My dad is a retired " highway maintainence specialist" , (he mowed, plowed snow, and patched holes) after 35 years. Yes he can remember when there were no interstates. When he first started he said you could walk across the entire 4 lanes without even looking to see if there was traffic coming. Just try that today. [&:]That was one reason he retired, too much traffic.
