I am sitting here in shock! We are having a hard time finding a timeshare for Thanksgiving week (we are "space available" with a military plan). I want to be able to hear the waves. Raymond, last night suggested I find a campground in Myrtle Beach (he hates MB). he also wanted to take the popup. I read some of the posts about last thanksgiving getting i the 30's at night. he said that we can take 2 heaters.

I suggested this AM that we take the Bantam and the Corolla (seperately of course), he taked about what a gas hog the truck is... well this afternoon he suggested taking the Bantam.

We saw Apache last year, it has an out door pool, Ocean Lakes and barefoot landing have indoor pools. Cannot find the rates ocean lakes, but Barefoot landing is $18/night even full hook up near the ocean. Waiting to hear from Ocean Lakes. Good reviews on that one...I guess I wait to winterize (do not want to do that job twice)...

Anybody else doing anything for Thanksgiving week, or the long weekend?

YES South Carolina is one of the 13 colonies. :D

NO I doubt we will camp unless it is close to home.

I would love to camp over Thanksgiving but as usual, kids' sports take over. Last year Courtney had High School bball tryouts 7am the day after Thanksgiving. Then, to ruin everything, they had a tournament over the Christmas holiday. This year she's switching from bball to swimming (I think) so maybe it'll be better but Kelsey has a bball tournament over Thanksgiving. Her travel season starts earlier than the high school. That will be her 2nd bball tournament of the season I think. It's hard to think about since soccer season hasn't ended yet, but bball practice has begun already.

I am glad my life is simpler with only one child at home and he is not into sports, but rather into computers (but could/would not help me figure out why I could not get Raymond's PC to hook to internet after changing providers), that too can be an expensive hobby, but then again, I do not ahve to spend my off time taxi-ing him around. Call me lazy  :p .

Raymond still has me looking for a timeshare, but admits that camping is my hobby, albeit expensive. And we would be warmer in the Bantam.

Sure it is one of the original 13:

QuoteIn 1663 King Charles II created the colony of Carolina (named for King Charles II) by granting the territory, of what is now roughly North Carolina, South Carolina and Georgia, to loyal supporters. This colonial charter was challenged by many Virginians who had settled in Albermarle Sound and resented their inclusion in the Carolina Charter. Charleston (originally Charles Town after the King) was founded in 1670 by a group of 200 colonists from English Barbados.

Ah, you learn something new everyday and THAT is why I come HERE even after we winterized our camper yesterday. :(   We will not be camping until probably April at this point.

Still no timeshares on the beach in MB...and it is less than a month.

Barefoot Landing (Indoor pool) is $18.00/ night full hookup
Ocean Lakes (indoor pool, local phone, cable,1200 sites) $24.50 full hookup
Apache (outdoor pool, fishing pier)$22.50 full hookup.

Make a list of the good and bad of each campground then throw the list away and go where you want. :D

Paula,

Was looking into going to the Shenandoah Park area for the long weekend. Of course we would be staying at the lodge at Big Meadows. It is nice this time of year. Nice fireplace too..

Lakewood has an indoor pool. We stayed there during Christmas break 3 years ago.

The wind was kicking up pretty good that week. Luckily we had a huge Class A blocking it for us! Otherwise, we were a close walk to the beach and, even though it was chilly (50's) we spent lots of time searching for shells and riding our bikes.

IF we ever get back that way again, we'd like to try a state park, now that we are self contained.

Ok South Carolina is one of the original 13 colonies. What about a state that was part of one of the original 13 colonies but separated from them 140 years ago?

If you are talking about West Virginia, sure. :)   We really don't care where people are from.  We had a hard time coming up with a name that wouldn't exclude people that have camped with us.  If you would like to be a member let me know.
