I just had my Reese mini 350 installed, and had left my old hitch bar in and it kind of rusted in. I now have trouble getting the new Reese unit in and out. What is the best for lubricating the receiver with?

campingeyedocProbably just about any spray lubicant....WD-40 would help get rid of the old rust too.  Had a similar, and funny story happen at work last month.

Had to go to Simi Valley Cycles to pick up a Waverunner.  So I grabbed one of the work trucks that has a receiver and a grabbed a hitch with the right sized ball.  When I got to the dealer, I had to POUND the hitch to get it into the receiver.  After I did that, I asked the dealer if I could use some lubricant.  Shot it in.

Driving back to work I kept wondering how I was going to get that dang thing out of the receiver.  Dropped off the trailer, pulled the pin on the hitch and gave a BIG YANK.  Don t have a clue how I avoided a prat fall....lubicant had loosened it perfectly and it slid out " just like that."

campingeyedocAfter you get it cleaned up, buy one of the little plastic covers. They really do help, I think they are like 3 bucks. Just put the cover in then the pin to hold it.

Campingeyedoc,
Unfortunately you have a 2001 Astro, so you are well aware how low to the ground the tow hitch is located.
We did have a PopUp Times cover, but it only lasted a month before hitting the ground a few times, and breaking[: (]
