We have found that our water pump on our bayside is somewhat noisy!  It really rattles and growls (yes.....growls....Ry thought it was our dogs growling inside the camper!)....whenever it has to kick on!  Anybody know anything about this?  Is there anything we can do about it?

 colenryColenry,

On the last board, people solved the problem by changing the hoses used from semi-rigid to flexible ones.

Pickup a standard RV 1/2"  white water hose (25  for about $6). Remove a piece from the trailer and replace it with one of the same size cut from the new hose. Once all the semi-rigid ones have been changed, the noise will be greatly reduced.

Keeping the hoses and water pump from touching parts of the trailer (by using rubber as a buffer) also reduces the noise.

While the pump will always make noise, the semi-rigid hoses amplify and carry it throughout the trailer.

colenryYou might try the following :
  * Make sure the screws that anchor the water pump are tight
  * Make and install a gasket
  * Try acoustic insulation in the compartment that houses the pump.

We were advised the above for a noisey pump problem with our Starcraft. The suggestions might help you-dont know for sure.

colenryYou have a brand new camper, don t you?  I would check with your dealer before doing any " fixes"  or modifications.

colenryMy brother-in-law s Santa Fe water pump made a lot of noise too.  If you remove the fill cap from the water tank the noise went away.  The problem was a kink in the tank vent line.  He replaced all the hoses too.

Being new it might be better to take it to the dealer, especially if you have a bunch of other minor issues to be taken care of.

colenryI have a  02 Bayside that had the same problem.  In my opnion, the problem is poor material selection.  What I did was I installed a Shurflo Accumulator tank and replace the hard plastic plumbing with more flexible hose between the  water tank and pump and the Accumulator.  This made a world of difference.  You do need to be a little careful with the flexible hose.  You do want a loop or two in it between the pump and Accumulator, but you do need to keep it from banging into it s self when the pump runs.  I used adhesive wire ties to hold the hose in place on the floor.  It s an easy mod to make and doesn t require any speical know how.  I think the whole project cost was around $40 - $45 and took about an hour.

Yes the noise is a very annoying noise.  And yes it only happens when the water pump runs.  But everyone within 2 campsite of you knows your water pump is running.  Wish you luck!

colenryYep, I know what you are talking about.  It seems to get really bad and stay really bad (for a while) when the tank starts running empty.  It seems that after I fill the tank and run the water it will quiet down after a period of time...... sometimes a couple days.  My guess was that it was simply air in the line that takes way too long to get out.

Now I just make sure the tank never gets empty.
