Has anyone tried these bags for camping? There is an Ad on tv on them that makes them look great. They are labeled as a Coleman product but I have my thoughts.. http://www.spacebag.com/

 Any Thoughts??

whitestar505While I can find no use of the vacuum cleaner assisted bags. (I m always right at the weight limit without adding appliances) Some versions of the roll up bags can do a good job of scrunching up stuff for a little extra packing room.
Don t expect your clothes to come out wrinkle free like on Television. Your rolling them up as tightly as possible, but then we most always look like we slept in anything we wear anyway.
Come to think about it, how do they roll up the cell phone and CD player they show in the ad? Not to mention the rolled up first aid kit?

whitestar505I always had trouble packing all the clothes I needed when we were tent camping, so I decided to try the space bags. I didn t see that the ones that required the vacuum cleaner would be a good idea since I wouldn t be able to repack with those at the end of the trip--never could find the electrical outlets in the tent! [;)]

So I tried some of the ones that you roll the air out of. They seemed to work OK, but after I got the clothes in and squeezed the air out, they were so lumpy and uneven, they were hard to pack. Because they were so lumpy, I couldn t see that I saved a lot of space. Plus, once I unpacked the clothes, I had to find someplace to store the bags till time to leave. After one or two trips, I decided they weren t really worth the hassle and gave it up.

This past Tuesday, 8/12, was my...er...uh...um...gulp...53rd birthday. I feel like that country song that was out several years ago..." I m much too young to be this d*** old!"  LOL!!!

But, hey, I started tent camping at the races when I was 47, and then upgraded to the PU last year. I m just getting started on realllly having fun. [;)] I m a firm believer in the Peter Pan theory of life..." I may grow old, but I ll never grow up!" [:D]

whitestar505I purchased a pack of 5 space bags with the Sampsonite name on it on ebay.  I wanted to try them out without spending a whole lot of money.  The bags are a bit difficult to load with a useful amount of clothes.  Can t say they saved me alot of room.  I think I will save them for tent camping trips where it is more difficult for me to keep things dry.
