luvourjaycoNiagara Falls is in the rolling blackout zone so I am going to turn off the puter to ensure no damage. Hopefully by Monday all will be fixed.

We will probably loose power too, I have the fridges working at full blast, we stock pile stuff when we find them cheap, if they are spoiled, we will go hungry for some time [:o][:o][:o]

We, in Union County, were without power from about 4pm til 9pm. Our office closed about 4:30 & I got an early start home. Traffic on the highways was fine, but the streets with lights were terrible. People just plowed on through as though no one else was on the road.

We rented a campsite for 2-1/2 months in the jungles of Sussex County and have the popup setup there (with a 20x25 foot tarp keeping it and the AAR dry). Since we go up there every weekend, I leave my emergency stuff in the van.

 Sooooooo.....

When I got home, I carried in a couple of group 24 batteries, 400 watt inverter, 12-volt multi plug adapters, kerosene lanterns (with a quart of lamp oil) and Coby, our 5"  black & white tv, along with some miscellaneous stuff.

After about 10 minutes work, we had 120vac, a fan running, a 15watt low energy flourescent bulb in a table lamp (at the end of a 50  extension cord so we could move it around from room to room) ready for darkness to settle in, a flashlight in every room along with a kerosene lantern or lamp and the 1,000,000 candlepower flashlight & 55 watt 12v halogen work light in a central location (tied to a portable battery pack). In case the water stopped, our 2 Coleman collapsible 5-gallon bags were filled and set aside with our 12-volt pump sporting a 10  length of hose with an on/off adjustable sprayer head attached.

I ate supper, settled down on the sofa (with the fan blowing) and proceeded to watch news reports on Coby. Heck, I ll camp anywhere there s food! LOL

Darn it. The power came back on and I ll need to carry all this cr@p back to the van before leaving for work in the morning. Oh well, it s been tested in case there s a REAL emergency someday. [;)]

Al, from this statement  we can easily  come to two conclusions about you: One, you took your  Boy Scout badge work VERY seriously and, two,  you are a natural-born gadgeteer.  Good thing the power came back on or you d have had the whole darned neighborhood pounding on the door to come in and watch Coby and sit next to your fan [;)]

A little while later, I heard that the source could be around the Niagara Falls Plant and thought of the group going to Niagara Falls camping this weekend and it was the Plant rebelling against everyone coming there (including Birol).[;)][;)][;)][;)]

Well we did go, and the CG was with out power, but we had our battery so it didn t matter as far as camping.  We did go and meet Luv, but 4gonefishing and birol didn t make it.  I think it was all set up by Birol.[:D]
