We were told to stay in the building and continue working.  When the fire department came, they had assumed we were staying by choice and couldn t believe that we were told to stay.

Couldn t see smoke, just could smell something like eletrical burning.  But still it was coming from somewhere.

Heck here, you can look and someone funny and it s grounds for a lawsuit[&:][&:].  There are lawsuits that I just can t believe.  My favorite is when coffee and soup from a drive thru has to have a warning that " contents are hot"  -- I sure hope so, that s what I wanted was hot coffe or hot soup.[:@][:@]

I m getting awlful tired of hearing about " BLONDE"  lawsuits.[:@][:@]

ShirleyTJinkies, just checked my voicemail at work...we are requested to not go to work again tomorrow, August 20th.  One article in a national paper suggested we will be off work all week.  They have  fired  up one necular plant and one coal burning plant as Ontario still doesn t have enough reserve power to handle pre-black out demand.

ShirleyTGood grief Tammy...are they paying you while you have to be off???

Ummm, are you sure you really want the answer to that[;)] I asked my manager when she phoned last night and to the best of ther knowledge, that would be the case.

Sounds like a perfect time to camp -- if you can t work and aren t getting paid, sit back and relax.[:)]

Yes, it would be the perfect time to camp if we wern t moving next Wednesday.  Instead, it s the perfect time to arrange the move and other details.  I m still packing things and today we are going to visit the new babysitter.  My kids have always been looked after by family.  It s a big change for everyone.

We are changing school boards so the transfer of records is a PITA.  My dd is special needs so there is even more paper work and agencies involved.  I still havn t notified all the utilities, gesh, guess I should make some calls today.

angelsmom10

angelsmom10Well at least you have time to do the little things before you move.  Less stress than trying to work and being sure everything is done in time.

birol

angelsmom10You are ina  way lucky Tammy, like angelsmom10 said, you have free time to get move related things done, someone up there must really like you !

Birol, I ve been thinking just that thought lately, not because of the week off, yes, we got the message tonight that this will extend for Thursday and Friday but we ve been able to buy the house I wanted when I wanted and I got the job I ve been stiving to get for the last 10 years.  The last couple of years have been very trying, it kind of feels like I m in a dream, this really can t be happening to me, good things don t usually befall me so often.

I m not too sure where " there"  is but, it s nice to be on the receiving end of good news.

What what, what did I say wrong now ?????

ShirleyTGosh, I would HOPE they would! That would just stink to have to use leave or something when it isn t your fault. I know here, if the office shuts down for some reason, we do get paid.   One time at my old office, after a really bad snow storm, the roof on the building shifted....they ended up having to shut down the entire building for a week until it was fixed.  The building management s insurance company had to pay all our salaries for the entire week..... it was terrific for us!  ;>
