 Hi All,

Over the weekend camping trip, it started to rain around 12 noon on Saturday and boy did it rain. Worst of all was the lightening. It hit the bath house at Yogi Bear s Resort in Quarryville PA. The lightening was all over the place. Hundreds of kids were celebrating Yogi birthday in the pavilion  when it hit.  This lasted until 3 PM. All was well until 8 PM when the heavens opened up again. The lightening was all around us once again. This storm did not stop until around 3 AM. Sleep at last. Just another list of weekends washed out.

whitestar505YIKES!  You ve got to be careful.  Last week around here there was a lightinging storm at a camp for kids.  The Lifeguards moved all the kids into a building they use for crafts (with a metal roof).  Luckely, almost all of the kids were wearing thier sneakers because the electricity shot up through the floor!!  All four lifeguards were injured and one or two kids were treated at the hospital.  The Dr s say it was the sneakers on the kids that prevented more injuries.  Glad your all OK.      I can not understand for the life of me why people at the camp sites were running around in all of this.... I guess they were never taught to take cover.

So sneakers are life savers. Most of these kids had saddles on. New fade I guess.

whitestar505Lightening has been unbelievable this summer.  We were up in Maine last weekend when the sky started turning very dark, we stayed under our awning for a bit but when the boom hit I headed into the trailer, then a quick flash of lightening which sent everyone else scurrying in real fast, then this really loud boom crashed over us, lightening lit everything up and immediately all the power in the campground went out!!  Must have been right over our heads at the time.  Luckily everyone was fine.  There were other times over the weekend storm clouds came rolling in with some rumbles of thunder and people were still playing in the pool with their kids!

whitestar505My sister in law said the other night there was " heat lightning"   I ve never heard of this before, and it didn t seem intensly hot that night.  Like maybe 75 degrees??

whitestar505Hey Camperoo, we were in Maine this past weekend in thunderstorms as well! Wells Beach, Me to be precise! Drove the Jeep to the beach parking to watch the lightning over the ocean and wouldn t you know it, there was a man and a young girl playing on the beach, and another man leaning against a telepnone pole, and his sons were leaning on a chainlink fence! Some awesome flashes not too far out on the ocean, but couldn t enjoy it as I kept expecting one of those people to get fried!

garym053Hey Gary, we were inland in the Poland Spring area.  Storms were really quick but came in pretty mean.  Amazing how little sense some people have to " come in out of the rain."   It is fun to watch a storm out over the ocean if your in a safe place!
