RE: Electrical Hook-Up Question

Over Labor Day weekend we are going to be back yard camping at a friends house a few hours away.  Thier plan is to hook up the electricity for the PU in the garage.  Our Viking has  30 amp.  Can it be pluged into a regular 110 plug or is there something that I would need, to do this safely without damage to the PU or anything else.

In the past, with the Coleman Utah, and now with the Rockwood Roo, I ve put the RV in our driveway the day before a trip and plugged it into a regular outlet in the garage.  Then I ve run the AC while packing along with cooling the fridge (now w/freezer) and burning inside lights.  We ve never had a problem with just those things on.  I imagine, should I try to use the microwave, and certainly if I plugged in a ceramic heater or two, it would be too much.  I don t think you will have a problem as long as you don t get everything on at once.  Have a nice trip!
 
 ps:  Just make sure, if you use an extension to reach the garage outlet, that you have a heavy enough cord, at least 15amp or maybe more.

 Basically the PU is a no frill pu. It doesn t have AC, furnace, fridge or the other stuff.  Just lights, television, fans and radio.  So overloading won t be a problem.

You will need a 20 to 30 amp adapter as the pins are in different locations on the RV plug. They are available most everywhere, RV stores and even some Wally Worlds.
 If you find you do need an extension cord, get a 30 amp one. You never know when you ll need it camping and it garuantees you a safe electrical system.

Like Mike said, you will need a 30 to 20 amp adapter.  I also agree with him about the extension cord.  It is always safer to have the higher rated cord.  I plug the PU into a regular outlet all the time.  I just don t run the AC that way.
