Just got back from the Boston RV and Camping show.

They were demonstrating the Monterey with its automatic setup.

It raises the roof and slides the bunk ends out automatically.

When it closes, the roof stops about 6 inches from full close to let you tuck in the canvas.

The automatic setup can be cut off and you can do it manually.

Seemed like a nice idea.  My only thought was it does it rather slowly and that could be a little tough settting up or taking down in the rain.

 Price was somewhere around 11,900.

Salesman said this is the only model that it will be available on.

Also looked at one of the smaller Kiwi s.  Loved it when the salesman told me that I could pull it with my Sienna.  Dry weight was 2900 lbs.  Sienna is rated for 3500 lbs.  I don t think so.

GeneFSo Gene when are you going to buy it?[;)][:D]

brainpause

GeneFYou could pull it as long as you don t get any options, don t carry anything with you, don t carry any water in the tank, and leave your family at home.

So he wasn t really lying.[;)]

GeneFTo tell the truth, DW and I fell in love with a Jayco 26 foot TT.  Only 19000.

Main reason we didn t pursue it further was the 40,000 for the tow vehicle.

The Mesa will be around for a lot more years.  Just love the outdoor feeling with a popup that you can t get in a TT.

 GeneFGenef,

The guys said you can tow it. he didn t say you can tow it to a camp ground in CA and camp or you can camp in CO. Give the man a break, you sure can tow it , in the parking lot :):):):)

GeneFWe went to the show here in Huntsville on the 10th of Jan.  They weren t demonstrating the Monterey but we went in and looked.  I don t like the dinette area; the table is not portable.  It is sort of like a bar; a long bench seat along the back and two small seats at the sides.  I couldn t figure out how the wardrobe would fold down and store (would it interfere with the access to the refrig while closed?)  The price was a little steep for us (not as much as the hard side we looked at but still a little much).

The colors have also changed on the 2003 Colemans (they are blue and mauve now not the greens and beiges we have).  It will be interesting to see if they have any problems with the new roof.

We looked at hybrids.  DH wanted to look at Outbacks and fell in love with them.  We later found the Starcraft dealer and we both liked their new Starlite series that has the queen pull out bed in the back (it is hardside).
