Some jobs are harder on tow rigs than others. In anticipation of some new responsibilities, I ve just beefed up certain aspects of our trusty tow rig, a one-ton crew-cab jokingly called the " 21-Six"  by our 45 mpg econo-car-driving friends (cuz that s how long it is).

The seats have been washed, and all stitching checked to insure maximum load-bearing strength. The truck s bed has been cleaned of all camping related items, firewood, and empty propane bottles, in order to make room for extra folding chairs, netting, assorted spherical objects, umbrellas, water coolers, banners, and rule books. The suspension has been freshly lubricated, and fully adjustable air shocks added, in order to handle bumpy road conditions in local school parking lots. The steering has just been rebuilt, so that the turning radius can be kept to a minimum. A new transmission cooler, oil cooler, fuel cooler, and driver cooler will help keep temperatures and attitudes cool during " heated"  conditions. The paint job has just been waxed so any insults hurled in our direction will slide off. The motor has just been bored and balanced, with a 6-71 GMC blower and full nitrous package bolted on so that getting to the new location, after you have already arrived at the " scheduled"  location, can be accomplished as quickly as possible (this improved 1/4 mile performance should allows us to grab the coveted *shady* parking spot). A public address system with 500 watt loudspeakers is resting on top of the lumber rack, in order to drown out the opposing side s cheers. Dark tinting has been applied to all the windows so that unannounced uniform changes can be handled with a modicum of modesty for young female participants.

The old tow rig is ready for it s new job, to be completed a couple months from now when the season ends. Can you guess what it s new job is???

Let s see how our contestants did!

Contestant #1 said " A politician s campaign vehicle for the California Governor s Office."

***Ehhhhhh***  (buzzer sound) Good guess, but wrong! [: (]

Contestant #2 said " An Ice Cream Truck."    Again, wrong! [>:]

Contestant #3 said "  A mobile office for the Society to Legalize Urban Marijuana (SLUM)"      Wrong again! [:o]

Don Pardo, tell them the correct answer : " Yes, your camping has been put on hold for a while. The tow rig has just been converted into a girl s team soccer van for the duration of the season!"

Sure, I d like to be camping right now. But it s a three-day weekend, and I m stuck at home fixing plumbing problems, doing sprinkler repairs, and playing catch-up on some landscaping *issues*. [:@] For those of you playing along, did you guess correctly? And more importantly, have I left out any modifications that would enable our truck to do it s new job better?

Dave maybe you could add seats to the bed and lumber rack. That way you would have a tour bus.[:D]
