 Hello, all!

We re getting ready to take our 2000 Bayside on a 4-week trip to British Columbia. I am hoping for rain (southern British Columbia is a tinderbox right now and we ll have to change our itinerary if it doesn t start raining soon).

I want to get the trailer ready for the rain.  Should I seal the seams in the tenting like I would in an ordinary tent?  If so, what seam sealer would you recommend?

Also, there is one pinhole in the tenting fabric that I want to patch (as well as having a patch kit on hand for any other holes that might appear during the trip). What would you recommend for patching the canvas?

I saw the thread in the Camping forum on covering the bunk ends, and I plan to bring some light tarps to help with that problem.

madroneI have wondered the same thing.  I would use a silicon spray on my tents & a seam " glue-stick"   once a year.  I have not seen a product for pop-up canvas, but I would be willing to use one if it would help my camper.

I have a small hole I need to refill too. It is at a junction between the the mesh of a window & the canvas.  I think I may just try to sew it with fishing line.  If someone has a better idea, please let me know.

I hope you have good luck fixing the hole in your camper.

madroneDuring the tent camping days I repaired small holes with rip stop.  It s an adhesive backed nylon material available in the camping supplies section of Walmart, Sportmart, etc.  I still keep it around...just in case.

The PU owner s manual didn t say anything about seam sealing.  When we bought our tent, the instruction sheet said seal seams before use.  Seam sealing lasted us about six or seven years between coats.

You have a Fleetwood/Coleman trailer with Sunbrella tenting.  You do not need to use a seam sealer.  If you have leaking through the tenting you need to use a spray like 303 High Tech Fabric Protector.  That is what Fleetwood recommends in your owners manual.  You do not want to use a silicone spray.

Where is the pin hole and does it leak?  If it is small enough it may not leak.  If it is in the vinyl bunkend roof I would use a dab of Marine Goop to fill the hole or get the patch kit for vinyl sold here at PUT

madroneI purchased the canvas repair kit from PUT store & I can say it is a very high quality product.  I received a very small hole on my slide-out canvas and wanted something that was not obvious to repair it.  The patches are clear so they are hard to identify http://www.popuptimes.com/miva/merchant.mv?Screen=PROD&Store_Code=P&Product_Code=c-patch&Category_Code=RV.[:D]

 madroneThanks, all.

Our trailer pad was put in today, and I set up the pop-up so I can pack up for our Canada trip at my leisure.  It sure looks good out there.  The kids want to sleep in the trailer, but I don t want to have to wash the sheets before we even leave home.
