The Overmans

I ve got a 2002 Utah that I purchased new in August 2002.  My familiy and I have used it @ once a month[:)]  About 3 trips ago, I noticed that the bottom of the sink was leaking.  I took it to the dealer to fix (warranty work) and noticed that it still leaked this past weekend[:@].  Taking it to the dealer this time was not worth my time and effort (1 hr one way drive).  So I tried to fix it.  Took it apart, cleaned the threads and put fresh plumbers putty under the drain fixture and tightened it up!  Darn! Still Leaks![: (]  Took apart again, did the same again, and used a rupper gasket on the underside to tighten it up against.  Same Thing![:(]  Anyone else had this problem....and exactly how did you fix it?

The OvermansI haven t had my sink leak but I can t help but wonder if yours is not leaking from the threads but maybe from a very small " hair line"  crack in the plastic itself.

The OvermansMy sink leaked and I thought the threads were stripped.  They weren t...the plastic nut had split.  I took it out and replaced the drain with one with metal parts purchased at Home Depot.

 Good luck,

The OvermansI had a leak and I thought it was the drain, but it was one of the plastic water lines.  The hose clamp needed to be tightened a little and that took care of the problem.  The water was running down the water line and then dripping on to the drain line.

Good luck with finding the leak.

The Overmanssame story. turns out that the plastic threads of the faucet had a hairline split.  we replaced the faucet and no problem,

The OvermansDunno if your  02 Utah has the same POS Plastic Swivel-Drain that our  98 Bayside did, but I round-filed that thing after our first trip due to leaks. Replaced it with regular metal sink parts from the hardware store. 6 bucks in parts for the sink fitting, metal nut, and a 2" x 3/4"  reducing elbow, 15 minutes of time, and not a single drip since. Plus, the sink will drain faster with the new parts.

The OvermansSorry to sound like an echo, but check those plastic threads.  We replaced all our sink sets in the Niagara with fixtures with brass underbodies after all of the OEM sets split with the smallest hairline cracks I had ever seen.  You could not tell they had split until you removed the fixtures and looked down the fittings from the inside!
Good luck with the repair.  Water and particle board don t play well together.  I can understand your concern.  Our counter top became gondola shaped while it was popped down after our water leak!  It sure looked dry but the damage had been done!

The OvermansAs did jeffsxyl, I had to replace my fixture due to pinhole-size leaks from the plastic (nylon) threads. THey will only leak when under pressure. I just replaced the counter top this year beause of the damage.

The OvermansI had three leaks on my last pu (1983 Palamino) that drove me nuts. It always seamed like there was some kind of leak in the sink. The first one was on the water supply tank. There were some small stress fractures in the bottom side of the water tank. I used a little Marine Goop I got from a local home improvement center (dang that stuff works good). A few months later I developed a second leak in the sink drain line. I replaced that line and then next season I had a hair line crack at the base of the faucet threads. That one was the toughest to find. It would only leak under pressure. I replaced the water line, hose clamps, and just about everything else when I finally pulled out the faucet and found the crack.
