Camping munchies must be catching on even for those whom don t camp. In the JC Penny catalog, Christmas 2003 on page 10 there is a Smores maker you can use at home or for those rainy nights at the campground. I thought it was kind of a cool little gadget. They also have them on-line here:

Starcraft DadWhen at home, make Micro-smores in the microwave. They will spoil you.

Put half a graham cracker on a paper plate, put 1 2 or 3 sections of a Hershey bar, then one marshmallow.

Microwave for about 12 seconds or until the marshmallow expands and starts to tip over.  Cover with the other half of the graham cracker and squeeze removing from the microwave.

 To die for.

Starcraft DadAs cute an idea as this is...
I would NEVER eat anything cooked directly over a Sterno.  When growing up, I ate at a Chinese place that had this gimmick of roasting your own terriaki beef sticks over a Sterno.  They had a very " chemical"  taste.  [: (]

I ll stick with roasting my marshmallows over the gas flame on my stove or even firing up my propane grill for just this reason!  [:D][8D]  Heck, I might even try the microwave version!  THAT sounds REALLY easy, except I DO like my marshmallows burnt.  [&:]

Me too!!!   You can get them burnt at home if you make them under the broiler instead of the microwave.  Put the graham cracker on a pan, chocolate bar on top, top with marshmallow and pop under the broiler until it s the desired color!

 YUM....

Starcraft DadI m with you guys - I m not buying a fancy s more maker when I have a gas stove top, microwave and gas grill!  I ve been known to light the stove and get the pie irons out to try something at  home before planning it as a camping meal.

Great, its 9am and now I have the s more craving.  They re not just for breakfast anymore!   Hmmmmm, golden grams, marshmellow fluff and choc syrup.....might just work.

I did too!  South Pacific, it was called.  Loved going there for my birthday.  I guess as a kid I didn t really notice the funky taste, just loved the novelty of " cooking"  my own food at the table!  Mom didn t mind going there, they apparently had killer Mai Tais!!!

Starcraft DadI went to a restaurant in NYC that was Asian themed.  They had little gas grills in the center of each table.  You chose what food to eat and they came and placed it on the grill.  I can t remember if we tended to it or the waiter came over and checked on it for us!  Must have been the wine we were consuming!  THAT was fun and no funky aftertaste!  :-)

I DEFINITELY have to try the s mores in the broiler!  THAT sounds AWESOME!
