Even though I may be new to many of you, I first started posting on the pop up times message boards about three years ago. I have to say I liked it better when we had only a handful of forums. Too many forums keeps us too spread out and more difficult to see what everyone is talking about. When I come to the message boards, I m looking mostly for interaction with people that enjoy camping. I m interested in all topics from campsite cooking to towing issues, stories from members about their most recent camping trips to questions on technical issues, it s all useful and interesting to me, but, I m affraid I don t have time to move from one forum to the next looking for different topics, or trying to determine what forum I need to post in. The boards seem slower to me than they used to be, and I know part of that is because of the membership, but I have to think that another reason is that with 40 something different forums, the threads are getting somewhat watered down if you know what I mean. To me it s all about camping and the friends we meet along the way and I think that by going back to just a few forums, we will have more interaction with each other. What do you think?

CajunCamperTry using the " New since last visit"  feature on the bottom of the main page.  I use that to follow what is going on and then pick and choose what I open.  It gives the feel of one big forum.  I know it helped me.

I like this feature also, except I wish it gave ALL -- it only gives the last 50 posts.  I miss so much over the weekend and if it has been just a busy day/night.

CajunCamperI guess I agree, Since things basically started over, they probably should have started with just a couple forums. Then add them as needed.

But there are really only 10 that I check anyway.

The reviews - never read them, nothing where I camp.
Besides I always find them too personal to do any good.
What I like others might hate. Someone recently posted a good review, for a place that our group went to.  For the most part everyone hated the place, not my family, but almost everyone else hated it.

Rallies - never read that either.

Clubs - nope don t read them either

So here is my suggestion, on what to do................

 * General - need that one
** The Campfire - need that one too, gotta have the fluffy stuff[;)]
*** Mr. Fix it - sure need that one too
Product Reviews - naw drop it, post it in general or someplace
Hybrid Forum - yepp drop that one too[:D]
I always wondered why Hybrids got there own little forum, when the PU s didn t.
   There is no Pop-up forum?
I just figured it must be cause they don t get along well with others.[8D]
Poll Forum - drop it, Just post polls in campfire
Classified ad s - drop it, buy an ad in the paper[:)]
Bargain Hunters Emporium - put these in campfire too
Recipe Forum - Doc says I need to drop a few lbs - so drop that too
**** Manufacturer Forum - Viking - No opinion on this I don t have one of them , I suppose keep it though assuming they answer?

OK, So there is my suggestion, Take it for what it s worth- nothing
I guess that puts it down to 4

CajunCamperI m with you, Jeffrey. Things are just too spread out now. And too many forums with too little traffic - think it s time for some housecleaning [8D].

CajunCamperWhat I do that helps me is to go to the " All Forums"  page. There is a yellow emblem at the beginning of the forums that have new posts. Also, you can see the dates and times of the last posts in that forum to see if you need to go into that forum. For example, I look at the Eastern Rally forum often, but only if the last post s date is today.

CajunCamperIf one of the clubs posted  in the general catagory there would be a lot more action on the board.   I wonder which one I am thinking of.[:D]

CajunCamperOf course then we d have the problem that started the split off s in the first place; people whinning they had to weed through 3 pages of things they didn t want to read.
You can t please everyone, but this is what please the most back when it was seperated.
It kept current messages on differing subjects on the front page so 56k ers would have to search through page after page of " new messages"  to find the subjects that interested them.
For cable & DSL people it was only a few clicks to jump around and read what they wanted and it gave some organization to a pile of posts.

CajunCamperOh the nostalgia of the old board.  Well, just set this one to read the way you like it most.
