Lori, I'm glad your Mom came through surgery safely. I hope her recovery is swift. I sure by getting her up and walking it will get her out of the hospital quicker.

Whew--always nice to hear that people do well.  Can't wait to see the newly unplugges Wynn at a future rally.

Hopefully, this will be the last update with my mom in the hospital! She is doing well, although her heart continues to go into atrial fibrillation. If it will stop doing that, she will be able to go home in the next day or so. Despite the a-fib, the surgeon remarked that he thought her recovery was remarkable (his word) and that he was pleased with how things were progressing. He let it slip that he thought that it was going to be a "nightmare" when he opened her up but that her surgery was "a piece of cake" (again, his choice of words).

I think the biggest difference is that she has a far more positive attitude than she did after her heart attack. Her heart attack made her focus on her mortality, while this has been very life affirming. I'm sure she's going to have some rough days ahead of her, but so far, she is doing very well. I am very proud of her.

She will be staying with me for a week after she is released from the hospital, so I am learning all I can about no salt/low fat cooking as quickly as I can!!!! It'll probably do me some good as well! :p I'm really looking forward to her coming home and already thinking about how long it will be before she is able to camp with us again.

Thank you for all of your prayers and support. They have definitelycomforted her and lifted her up. She appreciates and cherishes all of you, and so do Dave, Griffin and I!

Lori, thanks for the update.  Having worked with doctors almost my entire working lifetime, when they say they are pleased, well, that is a good thing.  We will keep all of you in our thoughts and prayers during this time of recuperation.  I do believe this is a Wynn win situation!!!

Well, mom was released from the hospital today and will be convalescing at my house all week. We're both pretty worn out from getting discharged, picking up things she needed to bring to my home and getting her prescriptions filled, but all in all, we are both glad that she has embarked upon the next step of recuperation. She is still a bit short of breath; her heart continues to beat irregularly once in awhile, and her surgeon may zap it if it doesn't come back into regular rythym on its own, but even so, she is doing well and we are very optimistic about her recovery. I've even told her to shoot for coming with us to the Halloween rally. Her scars are perfect for frightening small children. :D :Z ;)
