The consensus of opinion is that I have a starter capacitor that has gone bad. Unit just hum,s and wont start. If you remove the inside cover you can reach the blower and if you spin it then turn the unit on it works. This of course is not recommended but it was Saturday night and 80 degrees. Tried two outlets with the same result the local EE said Starter and I think he s right.I am just looking for guidance. Oh yes the warranty ran out two months ago.//////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////
Fairly simple job hardest part was removal of shroud. If anyone has similar problem contact me and will try and help.

RonRon.....I also hd problems with my Mach unit last summer.  Blew out a smelly mist, then went cool to warm.  Turns out there are two capacitors in my unit and both were replaced for about $160.  I saw old and they were fried, thus reason for smell.  That was last Sept. and unit hs been like new ever since.  Good luck.  A/C manufacturer might work with you on the warranty deal.  Give it a try.

RonWe have a used pu with Mach and we had cold air but no blower.  Found the schmatics and a brochure to service people for the Mach.  Ordered the two capaciters, $33.50, and DH changed them in a few minutes.  We are back in business. [:)]
