Well, we just got back from an all-day outing searching for our first trailer. Been searching for months, tired of being outbid on ebay, went to the classifides in line. we live in Northern VA, so i expanded my sarch to PA-NC, and west to WV. Found a likely candidate in Carlile, PA, so organized the troops for a look-see. Well, the trouble started with my youngest, seven and going through some sort of stage where if she isn t the center of attention, everyone suffers. a two hour trip trunned into three hours of hell. an adult had to sit in the back seet with her, sending my oldest (11) into the front seet. The child throws things at her mother, so me (the hard***) had to sit with her. Several stops later, with yelling and fits every two minutes, we made it ti a convenience store in Harrisburg. We stopped long enough to let everyone get out, and me to call the guy we re suppoesd to meet. The youngest comes pulling, tugging and whining about money while I m on the pnone. the shot story is that the keys get locked in the car. now, a greater scent errupts. fifteen munuits later and much histrionics by my children and my dear life partner, AAA popped the lock for us, and we re on the way. The camper is a bust-trashed inside and out. we spent 10 minutes looking at the thing after comming all that way, just to excuse ourselves and leave. the trip back was pretty silent, still in the back with the youngest. but i wonder, is this pack rally ready for a camper? I coudn t make it to the store to buy a wrench to change out my ball without a major incident with my youngest. She won t hold a hand and insists on running into traffic-so I have to hold her by the shirt (lots of looks there). She insists on touching everything she sees-including power tools and any button within reach. More holding by shirt, more stares and frowns. Seven is more like terrible twos, with a mouth that sasses back. We ve been collectively looking forward to this event, but i m beginning to have serious doubts.

cruiserpopWe loved our first camper, even though it got small very quickly. After going from a tent, it was heaven.....

it seems cruiserpop is not feeling very positive about their first camper....[:o]

Sounds like you need a good long week in the forest....perhaps without the kids! This is when loving grandparents get to pay their dues...

cruiserpopThis is the best time to look for a camper, so just keep checking the papers.  Also get your local trading post.  Ours has many in every week.
