birol, Hilton Head is a nice island.  We go there about 2 to 3 times a year.  South Carolna has many nice beach locations.... our favorite beach place is Isle of Palms, which is only a few miles north of Charleston...... Both the Isle of Palms and Hilton Head (much further south along the South Carolina coast) have plenty to see and do.  The weather in South Carolina in the winter is very unpredictable.  You can find great rates at many ocean front rooms in the winter months here..... Some South Carolina " winters"  will have freezing temperatures, others will feel like a nice spring day.  We never really know what weather we will get here in the winter..... In the winter the temperatures can be sunny and mild one day and cloudy and cold 24 hours later.   I d guess that in December the most likely weather you would find would be temperatures (F) would be a high in the low sixties and lows in the low to mid 40 s......   Good luck with your planning.  Of course if you want an entertainment type area, Myrtle Beach is another option....
