Last month driving home at night, less than a mile from my house, I swerved to avoid a chunk of cement in the road and ran the right side of my van and camper off onto the shoulder. The problem was that rain had undercut the pavement and it dropped off from there.  A chunk of asphalt hit my step and bent the step frame.  The step deck flew out and disappeared into the night.  But when I checked out the damage in the daylight it appears that the deck must have hit the rear stablilizer on the same side as it when flying backward.  The tires are fine as is the frame of the camper.  We removed the bent step frame and I have replaced it with a little step stool with nonskid surface.  I actually like it better than the step.  But the rear stabilizer on the right is no longer functional.

These are the pull down stabilizers, not crank down.  Has anyone replaced these?  Should I look upgrading to a different type of stabilizer?

Sorry about your accident.  I have had both types of stabilizers and I like the crank down ones better.  With the swing down jacks it always seemed that they were just a little to long or a little to short.  The problem you may run into in replacing the jack you have with the crank down style is that they mount a little differently.  You will have to look at your trailer and the jacks and see how much work it will be.  It can be done and others have done it in the past.  Good luck. :)

Sorry for your misfortune! My Jayco has the kind of stabilizers that fold down then you use a bar to put some pressure on them. If yours are the same, I believe they bolt on. At least my front ones do, because I've replaced one that didn't work properly. (I'll have to check the back ones!) In any case, your jayco dealer should have one at a reasonable price.
