I've seen someone's mods pictures where they built a box to attach to the back bumper to store the BAL leveler.  Now that I need to have my DH make one, I can't find the mod.  Anyone remember who did it and can direct me to their website?  Thanks for your help!

MtnCamper

I didn't attach it to the bumper, Instead chose to leave one end open. The BAL slides into it, then stands upright inside the door, beside the cooler. When I'm at the campsite, I lean it on the site pole, for a camp sign. The open side is at the bottom, so when I use it for a sign the solid end is at the top, keeps rain, dirt, and leaves out.

I pretty much did the same thing - used the original box as a template.  It looks very similar to Mtn Campers box and I keep it just inside the door as well.

I know the mod you are looking for.  The pipe on the back bumper and you take the screw out of the BAL leveler when storing.  The bad thing is I don't remember who did that mod.   I will keep looking.

The Webshots page you're looking for may be SkipP's.
He stores his on his back bumper.

:D MtnCamper you got it.  That was the web page I was looking for.  :)

Funniest part is, I was sure it was YOUR mod, so I did a search using your screen name to look for the post!  LOL  You usually have this stuff for us to copy your good ideas.:p

I use a wooden box and stand it right inside the door like MntCamper.  I put the throw rug for my stepper door over it so it doesn't rub against the cupboard wall when traveling. :)

Trina, I didn't reply because I thought you were looking for a box! My next project will be to make a cover that slips over the BAL to protect it from the elements. If you need any info, feel free to ask. This is, by far, my favorite mod.

ozandus has plenty of camper mods on their website. You can see at this link the way the bal leveler is secured:

Here's what the inside of the box looks like and instructions on material it is made of:

Hope this works.

I keep my BAL in the original box but slip that into a 22" pizza carrier like Pizza Hut uses to deliver to your house...  here's a picture:  http://community.webshots.com/photo/83195063/108708369utzbsc

This is how good it fits:  http://community.webshots.com/photo/83195063/108708001tbIQbp

I keep it right inside the camper door so it's the first thing unloaded.  No muss, no fuss, no scratches on the cabinets inside.

How did you keep the box so nice and new looking? Mine pretty much disentegrated after the first trip! My BAL leveler travels in a garbage bag and I'd like to come up with something a bit more substantial!

Where did you get the pizza carrier? That looks like a handy idea.

I sort of strengthened the corners of the box with packing tape and that's about all I did to it other than just keep it dry.  I got the pizza carrier on line somewhere for about $15.  Just do a search for "pizza carrier" and you'll find all sorts of options.  I went with a 22" size.  It's a little big but the box fits in excellent and is well padded.

I saw this idea on the old board almost 2 years ago ago when I first got my BAL leveler and it really works great for me.  Wish I could remember who posted it, I'd thank them profusely for such a simple,  easy-to-use, FREE solution.

Whoever it was said they slipped their leveler into  a heavy vinyl zip-up bag  that they got a large comforter in.  I happened to have a very heavy-duty, extra-thick one like that and tried it--it is still in great shape (the zipper still works) it offers great see-through protection, is lightweight and easy to wipe off if it gets grimey on the outside.  I just put it on the rear deck of my van when we travel.    Once the BAL is out, I just put the bag back in the car. (We level our TM before we set it up.)
