Has anybody stayed here? What sites are suitable for Pop-Up? Recommended sites? It's one of the VT State Parks that I haven't stayed in and would like to change that!
Thanks!

Haven't been to that one gary, but if you go, definitely post a review.

I think we've decided to do an all Adirondack state park camping season this year, with a few trips to Vermont. We're actually thinking of bypassing Letchworth this year!

I'll be posting questions for you about Vermont state parks. We're big into the moutnain biking and hiking.

Post away! I'll be glad to answer where and whatever I can!
We WERE going to spend Memorial Weekend at Rollins Pond CG in NY! But things never go as planned, and we have to do a Children's Day Rehearsal for Sunday School on that Sunday, so need to be within an hour's drive of home that weekend!
2nd time I've had to cancel reservations there! One of these days I'm going to make it!

This will be out third season in our Coleman Sedona. We live in the finger lakes region now, but i spent 25 years backpacking, most in the adirondacks where i lived. Over the past two seasons, we've be "pop-upping" in my old stomping grounds, using pop-up camping more as a basecamp for backcountry sojourns. So far i've hit Cranberry Lake a couple of times and a KOA just outside of Wilmington (if ya just gotta have "amenities"). Keep in mind that, because of the constitutional protections on land use in the park, the public campground are, essentially, semi-dry camping, i.e., no electricity, running water no necessarily at your site (though never further than a convenient tote away--meaning always in the camping loop--and now sewer hookups. In exchange, the public sites tend to be very large, many are semi-secluded even if you are next to another site (neat trick) and your experience will definitely be closer to "nature."

This year i have Fish Creek campground on the 'must camp at' list and i might just check out the Wilmington Notch campground, a very small public campground "spittin' distance" from the Lake Placid (actually Wilmington, NY) KOA.

Don't think we've actually broken 32 degrees here in some time, so this kind of interchange is definitely uplifting.

I lived in Plattsburgh for about a decade and thought that VT wasn't much different than we were. Reason i say that is that only tourists, who had never been to the adirondacks before, would even think of be outdoors on memorial day weekend. My recollection was that memorial day weekend was about smack dab in the middle of blackfly season.

We've lived in the Adirondack region our whole lives, so black flies don't stop us from camping or any outdoor activity at anytime. We camped at Sacandaga Park last Memorial Day and it wasn't bad at all- however- two or three weeks before that we had some nasty black flies at North-South Lake in the Catskills. But we put up the AAR and all was well after that.  :D

Lake Luzerne and Moreau State Park are our "home" parks, but we do enjoy Vermont camping very much. We'll probably make a trip out to the Northeast Kingdom area this summer.

I used to live in that area.  Any of the sites are well suited for pop-ups and most now have clean bathroom/shower units. Mid summer is great time to visit but bring the bug spray cool moist nights realy bring out the bugs. Hope this helps.

I've lived in Northern VT and NH since 1964! Black Flies don't scare me, I bring my machine gun and get some target practice!!! (Just kidding, I never take a gun camping, Honest!!!)
Actually, my wife swears by Skin So Soft, seems to work great for her, seems to attract them to me! I use Deet if they are really nasty otherwise they don't bother me too much.
I wouldn't let them stop me from camping and kayaking, for sure!
Thanks for the info on Quechee!
