New Job!

At long last, I've finally told the car dealer what he can do with his job! I parked the tow truck for the last time this evening, as I'm not just changing jobs, but careers.
 
Starting Monday, I'm going to start training to be a Direct TV installer Sub-Contractor!!!!  Training will take a week. Cha-Ching!!!

Cliff, I dont know anything at all about what the pay is for this kind of job, but I think if it is good, you will enjoy it.  We  LOVED the people who came here to install our DSS and welcomed them with open arms!  It is a happy, wonderful thing  to be adding and we were thrilled when the magic of ours was ready for viewing.  They brought us into a wonderful new world of TV viewing.  Our installers were knowledgeable and also obviously very "creative thinkers" since they had to overcome a number of odd little quirks about installing here at our place.  And although we dont believe in them for anything else, we also have a service contract (very inexpensive & economical; it's already paid for itself several times over) with a local company and the guys they send out are absolutely super.  

Good luck in this new endeavor--from what I have seen of you over the years, you will be very successful!

There may be good news there Louise, as I'm told we work as far west at Richmond! Guess we'll see. Actually, I don't think my old (and fat) body likes this new job, but it'll do for now since I need some real money!!!

Good deal Cliff! You can travel around with the Trail Cruiser & do installations as you go. Stop up here & do us (we've had it with Dolan & his ripoff cablevision). You can fix it so we can use the receiver at the campground too! And, we're only a 6 hour drive from Richmond (in case there's a problem)!

Actually, you can use any of the receivers and take them camping with you. The don't actually need to be connected to the phone lines. Some people have reported here and at other site's that they've been told at least one had to be hooked to a phone, but that's not the case. I've done a couple of installations so far in homes that don't even have phone service, they use only cell phones. They activate the system (and shut them down) by feeding info to the receiver via the satellite.

The trick is in finding the satellite at the campground. Having a signal meter helps, and a good compass is a must. I still haven't mastered finding the birdie yet, but at least have some practice at it! I would think most campgrounds run counter productive to Satellite reception though, as they can't penetrate the tree's. I'm having trouble finding a spot in my yard for a dish, my entire southwest horizon is smothered in tree's! I've got one tiny little hole between a couple of tree's if I mount the dish 8' up a big ol Pine tree in the backyard, but that's about it! uhhhgggg!

Actually, at the place where both trailers are now camped, there's a cable tv jack located 15' from the jack on the side of our TT. Hmmmmm...I noticed the cover had been knocked off & there, as unbelieveable as it seems, was a couple of untaken coax connectors just calling my name. Well, we'll have it "legally" hooked up for the season, but will be getting a dish for home use.

Our home cable system has become a ripoff & the shows we want to see aren't carried on it anymore.
