We have recently bought a pop up camper from Tom Johnson Camping in Charlotte, NC. We live in South Carolina. My question is: Do we have to buy a camper tag to display on the back of the camper? I've tried calling the DMV where we live here in SC and all I get is a recording. I've asked around to several folks here and I've been told that SC does not require you to have license plates on a pop up camper but I want to know if this is true as we are planning a camping trip to Myrtle Beach the first week in August. All replies will be greatly appreciated!

Thankyou in advance!

When we bought our used camper several years ago
the owner signed the title over to us.
We then took the title to the county treasurer and DMV,
we  pay taxes on the popup as well as
a registration fee. We display a tag on the back of the camper
with a decal showing the month and year of renwal (just like a car). The tag will be different in design compared to a car tag. it states that it is a camper.I am not sure if it is required we went ahead and did it since we travel out of state with the popup.
Have a great time with your new popup! We do (we try to go camping
alot since we live in Myrtle Beach)!

You'll need to register your camper with the DMV, i.e. apply for tags and you'll also need to pay sales and property tax at you local county office.  You will also need to place with RV under your auto policy (20 to 40 a year).

Enjoy

We camped at the state park  on the 4 of July. They have added sewer connections to some of the sites ; also they are adding a new playground area between circle 3 and circle 5.Hopefully that will be finished by the time you arrive. We camp there on a regular basis. It is only minutes from our house. Have a wonderful time at the beach!
