The sink vent project on the home page is interesting because  I was frustrated with a backed up sink for the entire last trip.  My question, though, is whether this improvement would help my problem, because the restriction seems to be very high up at the sink inlet.  I've tried draino with partial relief, but still only a small drizzle comes out the drain exit hole.  I opened the clean out joint on the sump elbow, but no problem found there.  I'd like to just rip out that incredibly small orifice sink and replace it.  Any comments on whether venting will help this type of stoppage?  Thanks.

It's a pretty cheap fix and mod. Even if you have something blocking the drain, the drain vent is a good mod to have. So, if you go ahead and make the mod for your camper, and all runs well, then you have solved your problem (unless, of course, you have a ball of grease that will begin to smell).

We followed the advice of others on this board and bought, for just a few dollars, a y shaped adapter that you would screw to your outside faucet at home and attach 2 hoses to.  It's screwed onto the sink drain on the outside of the camper, with one of the y arms sticking up, and the other sticking down.  On the down one the drain hose is attached, going into the blue gray water jug, and the up one is just open to vent.  It works just fine, and couldn't be cheaper or easier.

Actually with the 5 PU's I've owned, while they've all had slow running drains when I got them, the fix wasn't outside the trailer. Flop over and swing level cabinets always seem to get the drain in a position that forms a secondary trap or even worse kinks. Get one of these problem and no amount of venting will fix it.
It takes a little bit of effort to actually be able to see what the drain looks like when in position, but the good news is usually a simple twist tie can hold the tubing in a position that will allow the sink to drain.
Then it's time to worry about the venting.
