I spent a wonderful afternoon opening up and cleaning the camper for the first time of the season in preparation for our spring break trip to Key Largo.  The camper still had that camper "smell" and it was so nice just to be in it again.  I went through all of the drawers and cupboards and cleaned, rearranged and organized stuff, made the  beds, wiped up the floor and totally enjoyed it!

The p.u. is outside now for the season and we left it open for the night. Hopefully we can spend som time in it again tomorrow!

What does everyone else do on their first day of the season in the pu?  We didn't winterize (it spent the winter in the garage) so we didn't have to get rid of the pink stuff and we didn't have any mouse damage to take care of.

Three weeks until we camp!

PS - Oh yes, our new pooch "met" the p.u. for the first time this afternoon and she was great, she had to check out everything both inside and out!  The doggies stay with the housesitter for Florida and will camp with us on local trips later in the season.

Monday is the scheduled "wake-up" call for my pop-up! I'm leaving for the first trip (Bristol race) is just over a week. My PU lives outside so it did get winterized. I'm trying to decide if I should flush out the water lines before this trip or not. I have camped at the spring race at Bristol with night time temps in the teens! (And I was still tent-camping then.   )

We don't use the water system much at Bristol. The campground has a nice bathhouse and there are no hookups, so we have to turn the generator on to use the water pump. We mostly just need water for washing dishes and hands, so I'm thinking I may play it safe and wait till after this trip to flush out the anti-freeze. I have several 4-gal. Aquatainers that we can use.

But I'm still looking forward to popping it up and checking it out! Time to pack up and head out. First racing trip and first camping trip of the season! YAY!!! :D

Our local weather report is forcasting temps in the low 50's and sun for next saturday, so I'm hoping that it will will the start of 'a good thing' and we can get our camper opened up and checked out for the coming season.  But we more than likely won't go til around Memorial Day, and probably to our own place up north.

My PU will stay winterized until April 7th (the day of our first trip) or the weekend before if the weather will stay above freezing.  I did craw under it one day and silicon the lift cables and pulleys, and sprayed white lithium grease on the stabilizing jacks.  I have a list of things to do, like re-glue the velcro for the AAR skirt, install back up lights, etc.  but it hasn't been warm enough to do all of that.  On the first really nice weekend I will open it up and go through the cupboards and see what I can remove from the PU.  I buy new stuff for the PU each year so the old stuff needs to go.  Then restock the cleaning chemicals the first aid supplies and hygiene items. :)

I opened up the pop up last week and left it up all week. I steam cleaned the floors and took eveything out. I empted all my bins and put in fresh sugar and flour in my canisters and checked all my condiments. I packed my pop up back up this afternoon and put the bikes on top. I am ready for spring break this friday. My kids slept outside last weekend. I thought it was cold out. It is windy in Northwest Indiana today. Looking forward to our trip to the Poconos next week.

We loaded our PU back up this weekend with all its "stuff".  It was a much better feeling to be loading it for camping than it was unloading it for the winter!  It seems to have faired well over the winter, still had the new camper smell, and I'm really excited to get back out. Unfortunately, it was still really cold and extrememly windy here over the weekend so we didn't get to take it out....we even have snow predicted for tomorrow but "Hopefully" nicer again toward the weekend.  It still was nice to just get to go inside!  We spent a while there then reluctantly popped it back down and went home.

I won't have time to even touch the camper for the next month or so, but I've already got the itch,  I've bought a couple "upgrades" for it that will have to be installed hopefully before we start camping.  DH and I LOVE going out and hanging out in the camper the first warm/sunny day.  It took me a LONG time into Winter to remove what I needed to take out, but it takes a lot less time to load everythign back in!  :D

But for now... The kitchen remodel keeps us busy...

We are going to the Park to set up for the season on the 8th of April and we can hardly stand the wait!  As always we will be undecided about when to flush the antifreeze out of the lines.  We worry about the "freak freeze".  We are only at the campground on weekends, so if it freezes at night we are not there to run the heat.  One of the first things we do is help de-winterize the park bath houses so we will be OK without our water for awhile.  Spring is almost here!!!:D
