Hello  Guy's
The RF lift cable broke on my 2000 Coleman Cheyenne and I was wondering if anybody ever changed it on there own.
Dealer won't have time for the next 2 weeks and we have plans for a trip for the following weekend.
Thanks

Andy

I can help.  Go to the "search feature" and type in lift cable and it will bring up anything pertaining to lift cables.  You can also paste this in your browser or click on the link:

Contact Coleman and ask for a service manual on the life cable and see if they can fax, email, or overnight it to you.

At one the the GLPUC outings someone's cable broke and they were able to go to the hardware store and get a rope as a temporary to fix it.  It held for the weekend (at least), not sure if they ever got the proper cable or just left the rope in.  (their PU was either a 70's or 80's)

I don't think it was that difficult, but not sure about the newer models.

Andy sorry to hear of your trouble.  Fleetwood will send you a lift system manual, but I don't know if it will get there in time.  I wish you could get your PU to my dealer, although they are booked solid and I am really happy they were able to work my PU in.

The bad news for me is that they said Fleetwood may not cover the repair under warranty  , because there is foreign material in the lifter arm (a piece of material).  My guess is that it got in there when the new roof was put on.  That is when my PU became very hard to crank.

Hi Andy,

Don't know if you fixed the cable yet, but I found everything I needed at Canvas Replacements.

The cable replacement on a 2000 Coleman can't be that difficult, since the entire cable system is exposed under the floor.

The cable for my 1978 Palomino which was located under a goucho seat and in behind the interior walls) only took about 2.5 hours to replace.

The gang at Canvas Replacements sell only OEM supplies, and supplied me with the cable, installation and maintanance instructions, and S&H, and it only cost $ 29.95

   Hope this helps.

    Hoppy.
