Wow, how did I miss the return of our old friend?  (Al you are in BIG TROUBLE for not telling me about this!)   :swear:

Just posting this so none of the other old timers will miss this news--somehow, I didnt know about his return until I saw his thread about the orange barrels.

Gee, seeing that name takes me back to old times and memories of the fun we all had here way back in the days of the original board and Ultra Board. :W

:-()  :-()  But the nice thing about "board fun" is that there are no time limits or expiration dates!    :-()  :-()

I wonder how Aunt Magnolia is doing and if she's doing all her quilting and antique hunting.  Seems to me like she had so many projects going that both of them were asking:  "Retirement, what's that?"  I had the opportunity to camp with them at the Boone Bluegrass Fest a fews years back.  Talk about custom mods on their popup!  Wow! Old Goat had made a fancy rack with all sorts of thing-a-ma-jigs and even some wine glass holders on the side and a built in clock at the top.  We should get him to post some pics here so others can see his custom work. :)

Welcome back Old Goat.  Hope to see you on the Bluegrass trail again soon.

Gone-Camping

Are we sure the is the original "Old Goat" ???

B-flat

Yes, because when you read the posts, he talks about his camper mods and he recently pulled out his shower and put something in its place.  He had it listed in the classifieds as "unregistered" a while back.  Fits the description perfectly.  :D

:W   Yes, Cliff,

I know in my heart this is our very own original Old Goat! :-()  :-()  :-()  :U

Yup, It's the original one for sure and I'm glad to be back on the scene.......I had the Niagara popped most of the winter in the shed by my woodshop and really gave it's insides a new look. It all started last year when I noticed the counter around the sink swelling up like it was expecting twins. Dealer said that it was under warranty, but then I realized that a new one would only go bad again,so I decided to make one. After removing the sink and stove I saw how much wasted space there was in the swing down.so decided to make some changes....Wound up building a whole new swing down cabinet. It is lighter, stronger and has two drawers under the stove instead of one....  The top one is for silverware and the bottom one stores dish towels, etc.

The counter top is made of 5/8" red oak, glued and doweled together with five coats of urethane varnish. I made it wider so that the front edge extends out from the  cabinet just enough to clear the swing bar when it is in the down position .This made room for slots which run the full length of the top and serve as towel bars.

I rebuilt the slideout dinette seat frames and replaced the end cabinet doors with a large drawer which is 24"long and has little clearance on the sides so that minimun space is lost. These eliminate removing the bunk cushions to get things stored underneath.

Marie always complained about the plastic mirror in the vanity mate being warped and to small,so I made a new one out  of wood..It is a bit longer, wider and  has a mirror[glass] that is oval shaped and 24" high. I've added a few curves and gingerbread to give it abit of pizazz...every popup needs some......
Shelves and sides fold up and the whole thing folds up against the ceiling like the old one did....

Gotta go for now,but will post more about all my improvements later,if anybody is interested......

The Old Goat for sure....

Camping since 1940....... I've seen a lot of changes

Welcome back, Old Goat (gee, it feels weird to call someone in a good context!)

I would love to see pictures of your mods.  Sounds like you've been one busy goat! :D
