I'm watching on tv the funeral procession for former President Reagan.  It's quite a sight, such a sad situation but brings out the beauty of our country and the honors of our military in their touching display of tradition...

We are watching it too. :)

On Friday my artillery unit will fire two salutes in honor of President Reagan.  The first will be a 21 Gun Salute at noon.  The second will be a 50 round salute after Evening Colors at sunset, one round for each state of the Union.

I watched the whole thing from beginning to the end and was greatly impressed. I remember  when President Roosevelt died in 1945....We didn't have television back then, so the only pictures we got were in the newspapers.....I also saw part of President Kennedy's funeral procession on TV, but it was in black and white, as there was no color television in those days......I am also impressed by the extremely large numbers of people who are paying their respects. Many have traveled long distances to do so and then have to stand in line for hours in the hot sun.......Many of these people are to young to remember his presidency. Ronald Reagan was a real man who believed in, and stood up for his country and always tried to do what he thought was best best for it......We need more men like him in Washington these days instead of the bunch of short sighted wimpy crybaby politicans we have now, who's only interests are doing what is best for their party and their own re-election.....

I was never a fan of Reagan's politics or economics, and his own family seemed to be in disarray...BUT, it seemed like he stated his convictions and never wavered.  We certainly could use more elected officials like him today..we knew where he stood on matters, and he shouldered the blame he knew he deserved.  May God bless his soul...
