I got my wife a centeal vacuum for her birthday, which is today. Our old vacuum had died a few weeks ago (yeah do not ask  !) and this was her gift. Just finished installing it ! and she is a happy camper. Took three days to do it unfortunately ! They connected the upstairs rough in to a seperate outlet in the basement and I had to patch that in this morning, didn't find out about the disconnected systems till last night late.

We went with a Kenmore from sears ... A decent vacuum costing around anywhere from 299 to 699 (Canuck bucks) we webt for a central vac, as I hate the sound of the vacuum cleaner. And Sears had their no interest pay in 24 installments thingie magicie and I just jumped at the chance. This thing will cost us less than a cup of coffe a day ! And I will not have to pony up at least 300 bucks for the worst of the worst vacuum cleaner ....I know a monthly payment but something negligible which we can afford, besides money had to be spent anyways .... I think it was a wise decision :)

Bad news is her mom is coming today with her niece, and she exploded the bomb last night, they are coming not for a month for TWO months .... and she was not going to even tell us that, it is unfair if you ask me all the summer is dead now :( We were all gung ho for a month cause we could still have her for some camping trips later, looks like she doesn't care .... Oh well three of us will have a nice time getting insome extra camping trips I guess :)

So, yeah wake up have some coffee and post !!!!! Is everyone sleeping ?????

Couple of things.. remember don't tell you she's "another" year older :yikes: .

Sorry about the in-laws coming to visit, since you are getting "finally" ready to camp; but at least you and the kids can get away.

NOW, for the big question....

Are you ready to give up "a cup of coffee a day"?

Starryart

What a mother-in-law story that will be! (IMHO as much as you may love MIL, that is incredibly rude and presumptious of her to expect you to give up your summer plans so she can "visit" for two months!)
Really, Birol, you should write a novel. After the saga we've been reading about "Finally" and all, it would make a great story and it doesn't sound like it is over yet!
Does Readers Digest still buy stories? Could be more money for the camper fund.
Hey, for father's day ask DW to leave MIL at home for 1 short weekend with you and the kids and "Finally".
Just a suggestion........hhhmmm....

Gone-Camping

Hmmm, back in the days when I had a DW, if I'd have given her a vacume cleaner for a B'day present, she have turned me around and stuck that thing where the sun don't shine!!! To her, that was like saying "Here ya go honey, do more work!"... :D

BTW, I'm absolutely certain that I'm NOT alone on this one!!! :Z

Well, actually we had accepted the fact that she would come for a month. It is Wifey who invited her for two months and did not even care to tell us. I am mad, no need to say .....Oh well ..... This should pass too, either way ... life has a way of making things work.

Our trip to PEI is down the drain now :( Kids are so disapponited, I will have to take them for another week of camping for sure, maybe two! That should more or less cover it and Finally will have paid for itself :)

Wonder what MIL will think of the new guest house you just installed?
You know.......Finally!!

Bet that might get her to cut her vacation short a few weeks ;)  ;)

Well that sucks!!!

The vacuum I mean, literally:eyecrazy:

I MAY be in the minority here, but if I WANTED a central vac and we didn't have a lot of money AND our old vac broke, I would gladly accept a central vac for my "birthday".  Of course, we don't have a big deal for our birthdays, so the vac would not really be for my birthday, but more for the house -- AND to make my life easier.  I'm ALL about making my life easier!!

Congratulations on the new vac!  Sorry to hear about the in-laws...  At least now you have an excuse to get away from them -- go out and "Finally" get something done!  ;)

I'm with you Campingboater...anything that makes life easier is a good thing and Birol, if this is something your wife wanted I'm sure she was thrilled. I for one would never ream my spouse (or anyone else) over any "gift" that was given to me even if it wasn't something I particularly wanted.    If someone took the time to actually buy something or do something for me, just the fact that they did means the world to me...

OK How does one give a central vac?
You just had a new house built, was it always there behind the wallpaper or what?

Or are you remodeling already?

birol

Well, we went to Sears to look at the stupid silly small normal ones, and I dragged her to the central vacuum section and saw her eyes brighten and talked to the sales lady and we choose the model we both wanted (top of the line -1 ) and she was beyond happy ! We got delivery and she helped me install it all the way and and I got hugs and kisses ! So she was happy, and this is how one makes a central vacuum a gift.

She is happy I am happy house is clean and no more vacumm cleaner sound in the house ! best of all, it has a garage kit which means we will be able to clean the PU and the cars in the garage or the driveway !
