I am looking for a pair of aluminum awning brackets which attach to the roof of our Rockwood. Carefree has changed the style of the awning and they no longer make the brackets (according to the dealer - I am waiting for a response from Carefree too). Ours are bent and look look they are about to break, and I would like to replace them before we get an awning arm through the side of the PU. Does anybody know who might have some old parts available? Also, the brake on one of the upper awning arms does not hold consistently - it slips sometimes. Is there anything we can do to fix it? I really don't want to have to replace the awning before we move on to our next trailer.

Just thinking about you needing these old parts, has anyone ever called junk yards to see if they have any old PU's or even any recreational vehicles that would have parts like this.

Dawn and John,
I needed some replacement parts for our awning and called them directly in Broomfield CO. They were very helplful. We had our parts within one week.
Their phone # is 303-469-3324 or you can check out thier website and email them at //www.carefreeofcolorado.com  Hope this helps you out.

Mary - Carefree e-mailed me back a few days ago and told me the parts are no longer available, but thanks for trying to help. I thought I might run across someone who maybe has the brackets on their PU and no longer uses the awning, or someone who may have stockpiled parts somewhere. I'm not very hopeful at this point, though  :( .

Here's a link to a thread on RV.net about "RV salvage yards" that might give you a place to start looking: http://www.rv.net/forum/index.cfm/fuseaction/thread/tid/13796238.cfm

Sorry Idon't get to view this site very often and you may have already solved your problem, but I may have some info. for you.

For the replacement brackets, try Camper & Recreation, Inc.
Therse guys are great for stocking, and sometimes manufacturing out of production parts. (Service Builds).

    Visit their website at //WWW.canvasreplacements.com

E-mail them a pic. of the brackets that you need, and chances are they will be able to set you up.

As for repairing the brake on the telescoping pole, remove the inner section of the pole from the outer section, and a u shaped piece of aluminum will come out. This is the brake. Bend this slightly to increase the pressure applied to the pole. Replace the brake behind the tightining latch. That should hold that sucka . I did this to my SIL's camper with a Carefree - Campout awning  system..... and it worked just fine.

    Hope this helps.

     Hoppy.

Did you find what you need?

I have a place nearby that I might be able to pick up what you need.  There is a fleamarket and I know there is a booth there that is all second-hand rv stuff. fittings, faucets, awnings, add-a-rooms, you name it.  Tons of parts!   I just need to know exactly what you are looking for.  Can you take a pic of the exact things you need and I can check out what they have?
