Saratoga Springs

We're planning on going to the horse races first weekend in August. Just wondering if anyone has any recommendations for a good CG in the area?

We live in Saratoga, but have never camped here.

If you like state Parks, Lake Luzerne is about a 25 minute drive from Saratoga. There is a private cg up the road from us called Whispering Pines, but we've never been through it. It would be about a 15 minute ride from this place to the track.

This area gets VERY crowded in August, so make your reservations early and bring $$$ if you plan on eating out anywhere.

I will definitely check these out. We called a place named Alpine something or other and when the woman tried to book us she was shocked that they were totally full. She asked what was going on that weekend because she had never seen it that full...

Probably Alpine Lakes, a larger campground about 25 minutes out of Saratoga. They have a large amount of seasonal campers and get quite a few track campers too.

You could stay up in Lake George, but you'd have to fight southbound traffic to get to the track. There are supposedly lots of campgounds around Lake George, but it's personally not a favorite spot for me, so I couldn't say what those places are like.

You may want to do a search for places out near Schuylerville. That's east of Saratoga Springs and you may have better luck with traffic coming from that way. It's a pretty area too. This place looks like it's right on the Hudson:

Most of these are farther north, but it lists the ones in Lake George.

I've never heard of this one, but Ganesvoort is just outside of Saratoga also:

We found a spot at Adirondack Adventure Resorts. They said it is pretty close to the track... we'll see... but at least we found something!

If it's the Saratoga location of Adirondack Adventure Resorts (they have 3 locations), then you are going to be in Greenfield Center which is about 20 minutes to the track.

I never knew the place was there, but this area is fairly rural, so I doubt that I'm the only one that didn't know!
