I may have an opportunity to camp in this area later this year.

Can anybody suggest some good campgrounds near Asheville?  Something on the northwest/north/northeast side of the city would be best.

Thanks!

See my review of Moonshine Creek near Balsam, NC. It is on the southeast side, less than an hour away (or so). Wrong side of Asheville, but we really liked the cg, in particular, our site.

We camped in Asheville last year and had a great time.  See my review of Campfire Lodgings Campground at http://www.arveeclub.com/showthread.php?t=47758
This is a great little campground and it is located just north of Asheville.

Also, If you are camping during September, I recommend the NC Mountian State Fair. http://www.ncagr.com/markets/fairs/mtnfair/

Have a great time!
