Good Morning Folks,

I went camping on Friday up into the Lancastor Area to a CG called Red Run. The place was a mess. The Creek called Muddy Creek, and rightfully so, had over flowed it,s banks where there was over five feet of water on the campground itself earler in the week. By the time we got there it had reseeded back to the banks. Why did they not cancel campers coming into this? In fact I called them for some directions before coming. It was a mess, could not drink the water and the dump station was full to the top. What a mud hole.

We did stay with a lot of standing water all over the place. We also took a lot of other trips to other camp grounds and some of them were even worst. One place , Lake-In-wood was recovering. They called in over 100 tons of gravel. This place got some rain and flooded also. Nice camp grounds. Some more were Oak Creek CG, they were a mess, on the creek banks tons of stone. Sun Valley had some damage also.

Should have gone with us...we went to Tall Pines in/near Lewes DE.

Most of the campground is seasonals/fulltime people, but they have transient camping along the edges.

It is not overly impressive, but Raymond liked it, for him to like a campground is saying something.

I didn't even think about campgrounds getting hit really hard with all the rain that came through last week!  That is horrible of them not to say anything to you when you called for directions.  I would NOT go there based on THAT alone -- no matter WHAT the campground looks like fully recovered!  If they had at least given you a heads up and option to reschedule, THAT would be different.

It's a good thing our next trip is to Rehoboth Beach, DE and then onto Raystown Lake.  We USUALLY are in Lancaster at either Spring Gulch or Lake in Wood.  It just didn't work out that way this year.

Sorry to hear the news. We had reservations last year to go to Cherrystone CG in VA. They called us 2 days before we were ready to leave to tell us that the CG was flooded and they were sorry to make us change our plans. We were so glad they called, which saved us a 5 hour ride.

We go to Lancaster fairly often. We usually stay at Country Acres CG. Very nice folks, and reasonable rates.
