I have been in camping withdrawal ever since the soon-to-be-x took the TT and moved out......

Went to the RV show a couple weeks ago and drooled over the new pop-ups; brought back lots of memories....sigh....

But I did spend the weekend supervising the Girl Scout Camp this weekend.  It was nice to get away, have the huge campfire sat. night, walk around watching the girls cooking outdoors, etc., and the weather was so perfect for camping!!!!!! ......ok, that really made me wish we were camping.

I think I'm going to look into a roof-top carrier and see how much gear I can do without, buy a bike-rack and pack up the girls one weekend.  I would really like to at least do 1 trip this fall.

Pack up those kids and go!  When I went through a divorce, I got myself a tent and rubbermaid tote to put my kitchen stuff in and a propane stove.  I wouldn't trade those times with my kids for anything!  Go for it girl!  We don't need no stinkin' man or PU to camp!!

Absolutely...most of us started with tents anyway!!

Another option is a KOA Kamping Kabin.

What they said!  I camped in a tent as a kid, but my kids had only camped in the PU til this summer.  I took them tent-camping and they had a great time!  It amazed me how much we really didn't need.  It amazed them to find out that mom could cook over an open fire!  LOL

Another option, if you can swing it, is to look into renting a PU for a weekend.

Get out and camp ~ your girls will appreciate the memories for the rest of their lives!

The girls still get to camp with scouts and went to summer camp so they aren't in withdrawals yet.  A camping cabin is a nice idea with the cooler weather ahead.  I am just spoiled with a nice camp kitchen set up but we could do without taking it all.

I'm thinking about Halloween weekend, we'd get home in time to trick or treat so they wouldn't be bummed about missing that.  I may check the prices on a cabin; my oldest has one of those big 4 room tents that will sleep 4 more than comfortably.

Oh, and I was camping long before he came around, who do you think had all the camping gear?  We only bought the pop-up after I started looking for one to buy.  I hope to get one again someday but first I'll need a tow vehicle and I'm only 2 years into my car loan so it will have to wait for now.

Thanks for the ideas!

Something else to consider........
Look at CG websites, many have "Trick or Treat" weekends during Halloween where folks fix up their campers/ campsites and hand out candy to the little campers. That way, you could have your cake....er......candy? and eat it too!

Like the others we tent camped for years, before we bought a PU.  Go tent camping and enjoy it. :)
