I could have sworn i saw a recent posting on drills for raising the PU roof.

Anyway, today I decided that that would be my xmas present to myself (I'm a gal!) and was hoping i could get something suitable for around $200.

I did a search and got the link to Tim/Natasha's site with the minimum requirements.

I did a google and came up with http://www.toolking.com/dewalt/view.asp?id=6021

it's the De Walt 18 v. heavy duty 400 inch/lb.. everything on the "must have" list and it's $155.  It's reconditioned by De Walt and has a one-year warranty.

Xmas will come early this year...

You'll need a socket genie or similar device to get it all working.

As for recon from ToolKing, I bought my 24volt DeWalt from Toolking.com, couldn't have been happier. Comes with the same one year warranty as the new ones do. One word of advise though, make sure that it states they include a battery and charger, not all of their units come fully equipped... Nice option if you already have something else with a pair of batteries to fit, but if not make sure it has the battery & charger included!

Gee, thanks for the idea!  I was trying to figure out what to get DH for Christmas.   His cordless is shot and very, very old, and he had seen someone use their cordless on the PU and said that would be awesome to have.  This makes Christmas shopping for him so much easier.

you scared me, gone camping... went and checked:

<Compact size and lightweight, weighs only 5.2lbs.
DeWalt Built Series 3000 high performance motor delivers 400 in./lbs. of maximum torque
Two speeds, variable speed 0-450 & 0-1500 RPM
1/2" keyless ratcheting chuck for increased gripping strength
All metal planetary gears for increased speed and durability
Capacities: 1/2" in steel, 2" in wood
Includes: Drill/driver, one hour charger, (2) 18 volt XR Pack batteries, and heavy duty kit box

when i bought the camper, I paid about $22 for a crank handle already adapted for a drill, so i should be fine, but thanks for posting about the socket genie.

I wasn't trying to scare ya, just making sure you had the complete unit, which apparently you do! I think you got an awesome deal and I highly recommend Toolking.com, they are good to work with, and fairly fast on their shipping.
