Are there many sites open for this w/e. My in-laws are up there now, coming home 10/8 because there weren't any sites with electric open for the w/e. They are having their Harvest Festival in the local town.
Visited Little Pine for the first time on Monday, 10/4. Very nice SP. However no golf courses near by. Now that DW and I are empty nesters I am looking forward to more camping trips. Have thought about joining your group on some of your outings to Hickory Run but had other commitments.
Have been camping at Locust Lake for many years, but I am becoming disenchanted with it because of the steady decline in cleanliness.
Enjoy your trip.

Last weekend when we made reservations the only electric site open was a handicap site.  There were 6 dry sites left.  I hope you do join us, if not on this trip then on another one. :)

I used to camp a lot at this park,  it was by far my favorite in the system.  A few years ago,  then Gov. Ridge designated funds for state park upgrades and lots of parks got much needed improvements through that program.  Then the entire issue of funds for sports stadiums in Pitt and Phil came up and it was terminated until further notice.  Then Gov Rendell got in and is pumping so much money into Philly now that their is just none left for parks around the state anymore.  The entire fund got taken away at that point.  About three years ago,  that wasn't a bad park,  it was clean,  but you could see the bath houses were going to need to be re-done shortly,  without being there in the last two years,  I'm guessing the heavy use of the park because of it's proximity to Harrisburg and Wilkes-Barre/Scranton has taken its toll on those bath houses at this point.  That's a shame,  because it really is a nice park.

Unfortunetly,  I don't see the funding situation changing anytime soon,  so it may be a long time before this park (and many others) see any improvements.  On another note, that should boost sales of self contained camping units as people are going to want their own baths/showers and not use the park facilities anymore.

We would surely welcome you and anyone else on future camping trips with our informal group.  I personally like "new blood" enhancing our camping experiences,   besides,  one can only take so much of Tracy after a while......:p

Hope you guys have a great time! Most of my gang is busy this weekend so we didn't consider coming until Kelsey's soccer tournament got cancelled (Yea!). She and I considered tenting it with you guys (I think site 46 was open) but it's been really cold here (in the 30s here the last couple mornings) so we decided not to come it's just a bit too cold. I just haven't gotten the whole towing thing down - maybe next year I'll give it a try. I'll have to find a cg with pullthrough sites.

So anyway, enjoy your weekend and your colorful fire. You should have good weather if we don't come  :D

Tracy,
I posted earlier but seems my post disappeared   Thanks for the offer; Kelsey and I will try to come on Sat. Seems the girls have to attend a dance class on Sat morn. Hopefully we can leave after that.
