Picked up some 1 1/2 inch memory foam pads (only had twin so grabed 2) that I found on clearance at Kohls. Put it in the camper, made the bed , layed down for a few & it feels like it will make a great difference in comfort. Can't wait to try it out later this week.

Have any of you tried Memory Foam & how do you like it?  Any cons against storing it out in the camper for the winter?

I had some in my camper and LOVED it....however, DH complained about it and had a sore back from it.  I folded it in half and slept in a double layer and I don't think I moved at all at night..just loved it.  Didn't keep it in the camper over winter, moved it to the bed in the basement.

We don't have a memory foam pad in the camper but we have one on our bed at home and it makes a real difference.  I am thinking of getting one for the popup soon.  I think I got ours at JC Penney.  It is a king and I think I paid $49.  I got all the info from the "product review" forum.

I had tried a search using the search feature before I posted, came up with zilch in "product reviews" . This must be buried in a thread not titled about memory foam. Perhaps you remember which thread?

Once we try it I'd be happy to start a review tho . :)

I purchased two twin size for $99.99 from an Infomercial. First we put one on Sal's hospital bed, that we have at home, and Sal said it didn't make a difference. Then we added the other one and he doesnt' seem to think it has made any difference with a double layer. We don't know what we will do now. Maybe get one of the Aero Bed Matress toppers. I have a queen Aero Bed in our Hybred and love it. So we are thinking it might make a difference on Sal's HARD hospital bed.

We also tried the memory foam when we owned our 14SO and had to get a rufund on it due to the difficulty of trying to close the top of the camper.

I have one in the camper, with the hybrid, it is a little bit of a pain, as I have taken "bed roll" to a new high.

That said, I  love it and take the time to roll and unroll it everytime I popout (and the 3" ones are heavy).  I sleep on the inside with the piano hinge, since putting on the memory foam, I no longer feel the hinge.

Softening up a hard bed isn't easy. My mother tried, using double egg crate foam, it only helped a little. I hope the Aero bed works for you & Sal.

Luckily we won't have the folding up issues. I placed the memory foam over the existing egg crate foam we already had. Our bed remains in the made position and have plenty of room to pop down. Looks like not having bunkends is an advantage in this case.

OK, I found it.  It was under the Bargain hunters Emporium forum under Memory Foam.  Hope it helps   Sorry I don't know how to cut and past the direct link.

I have them on both bunkends and my bed at home.I brought the first one after reading about them here. I purchased them from Overstock.com, I got them on sale for $49.00 about 6-7 months ago. I got the King size ones and trimmed them to size. Used the excess to make a pillow. Check em out: http://www.overstock.com/cgi-bin/d2.cgi?PAGE=PROFRAME&PROD_ID=834960

BTW, DW, DD's and I love em makes a big difference.:)

If you check out Overstocks link you'll see the different thickness pads they offer. The 1" is $49.99 (same as Penny's), the 1.5" is $39.99 (such a deal), the 2" is $79.99 (I got this one on sale for $49.99), and the 3" is $ 129.99 (overkill for camper but might be nice at home). Shipping is $1.00 which is almost as good as free shipping. I would go with the 1.5" I think it's a sweet deal and I know the quality is excellent.

You'll have to be a little more carefull putting away the tenting if you bunch it up you won't be able close the top. Over time I've learned how to fold the tenting and I leave the pads on the bunkends, I just have to push the top down a little to hook the latches. Also, we learned of Overstock.com from Suzyeque on the old boards, (Sure do miss her, we often think about her and keep her in our prayers) you sometimes get great deals. My DW always checks with them first and then goes from there. Get the pads wherever but get the pads you'll sleep much better, when we cuddle up in our bunkends I often think back on how thick and comfortable the tarp I used to set my tent up on was :D .

Well, it looks like I did ok at Kohls, paid $20.50 for each twin. Had to cut 1 to fit the bed & have a piece left big enough to cover a single airmattress. If we really like it maybe we'll store them on the bed in the house for the winter.

 Let ya know Monday!
