I have just made the most amazing discovery  during the last 3-4 days as I have been looking into Travel Trailers.  WOW!  There are a bazillion  RV forums out there for almost every kind of RV you could imagine--not just for popups like here and PUX or the TrailManor site. (Although the various brands of popups also have forums and clubs who have rallies.)  I have been lurking at a lot of them reading what the owners say about their various rigs and it is fascinating and very educational.

There is a whole huge online world out there  of people who are dedicated to their own TT's and Expandables/Hybrids and I am learning so much  from reading their comments.  they are really helpful when newcomers have questions and also very friendly.  I guess I always thought PUT was unique in that respect and never looked any further once I found this site.  But it is a lot of  fun to peek into other sites and learn how other people travel and camp in their RV's.

(just goes to show you that websurfing is not such  a bad use of time.  :D )

(My favorites are the webpages of people who keep online journals of their trips and modifications.)  They are full of good tips.:#

I am glad you are finding more resources ....

Internet is full of information isn't it :)

Why yes it is Birol,  it's just how some people use all the valuable information out there on the net that concerns me.

birol

People using the information out there concerns you. I wouldn't want to be you.

I say let them use the information ....

As part of my job I help people find information on the Internet.  I always caution them that the information is only as reliable as the person posting it.[/FONT]

I said HOW they use the information,  not suggesting they don't use it.

birol

And you are entitled to be concerned on how people use the information on the net. There are a lot of sick people out there which take information off the internet and try to use it to their advantage. It is a shame isn't it.

I have to agree Elisa,  their are some awesome websites out there on the web just loaded with information.  One thing that I would like to encourage you by saying is this.....What you are going to find out is that camping styles change,  but it's really an evolution of sorts.  What you learned tent camping you take with you to a pop up,  what you learn there you take to a TT and so on and so forth.  Basically the mechanical systems such as water and LP are very basic in pop ups for instance,  but what you learn there can be used as you move on to a more sophisticated unit.

Your increased knowledge as you progress can always be used later on.  And when you do have questions about something unfamiliar,  their are tons of websites to find the answers.

Elisa,  I think this is awesome that you are thinking ahead to what your changing camping needs are going to be in the future.  Not everyone does that and then they get caught having to spend more money in a hurry because they didn't plan ahead.  The knowledge you have of camping now with your pop up/ TM is your greatest asset,  don't be afraid of a bigger camping unit or think for one minute you can't handle something that seems like a bit more than you can handle.

Your going to find out that the camping unit has very little to do with what your actually doing out there and that is camping!  So keep up your search,  keep reading all that good information and get a plan together as you figure things out,  ask questions,  knowledge is power (it's a cliche' for a reason).  Most of all,  have confidence in your camping abilities.

yes, Lee--and especially true of your remark about the camping unit having very little to do with the experience of camping.  I think Cliff got it right when he said he wants always to remain a "camper" rather than an "RV-er"  And it is so true.  I once encountered some people at a CG who were in a huge, very expensive MH and I sort of regarded them with a curled lip.  That is, until I stopped and talked to them.  They were a lovely older couple who had reached the place where  they  simply couldnt handle the physical demands of their  PU  and  spent several minutes recalling it very fondly--but the MH  was better for them at that stage of life so they were enjoying their "camping" still, but in a different way.

Have you see the wonderful stuff that "phred" has written about a bunvh of camping tech things like solar?  He is amazingly funny and informative at the same time.

Amen to both - camping is a state of mind, not a piece of canvass.
Phred is the bomb! ;)

I represent these remarks!!!!!
I too have the dark-side, but I still am a Popupper at heart..
I still cook outside and hang out under the awning..and my tackey lights.....
I have purchased 2 of those butane cook tops( Dave nice thing for the store)
to cook on my table and I still use my griddle which I bought to use with PU. My Mr. Coffee(PU).If I could find a old propane cook top stove I would figure a way to use that when I cook outside. I did use the oven last weekend.. I wanted to try it and I spent last friday night inthe camper in the driveway, Got up set up under the carport and cooked breakfast for my family..Had my 2 cups of java and bacon, eggs, hashbrowns and biscuti form my oven in the TT.. Got a little brown on the bottom but good anyway.. Kids were like this so cool..... I had a good time doing that and this weekend I wiol again have the family attention when we go to RJ's Ranch for Halloween I weekend.
So I still camp but when I go to bed it is nice on my queen sized bed and having the hard side around me..watching my cable TV and getting up in the middle of the night walking to the back of the TT to go pottie.....NOT some bath house 100 or more yards away....
