I'm checking with my step-sister who happens to live at Sam's what she thinks about us camping there during April/May.

Quote from: LCMS pastorI drive by this place all the time - and mind you - strong winds in that area is in the 60 mph range - that is why the windmills are there.
The windmills aren't in Palm Springs, they're aways away and there's nothing around them.  I'm checking with my family to see what they say about the winds.  They live at Sam's so they should be able to give us so informative advice.

I got some info from my step-sister and she doesn't recommend camping in pop ups during the time period we were looking to go.  She said that there are trees and other obstacles to help block the winds and that we can stratigacly (sp) park the trailers.  I wouldn't want to risk having a bad time due to winds.

Sorry for the bad news guys.  We can plan another rally.

here's an idea  http://www.pechangarv.com/index.asp

LKW loves this place, says the cleanest bathrooms ever. It's is a concrete palace but it looks really nice with plenty to do. nice roads for the kids to ride their bikes.  I think April would be good.  I see LKW almost every Thurs nite so any questions about the place I can ask him.

Pechanga looks nice, Dee, but maybe a bit too "RV" for me.  :)  Would they even allow us little 'ol pop ups?  ;)  Some places that like this won't.

Here's something I'll throw out for for everyone's consideration...Dave and I still have a credit at Woods Valley Kampground that we have to use before Memorial Day this year.  We are thinking of going the weekend of April 8-10.  Daylight savings kicks in the weekend before, so the days would be a bit longer for this weekend, which is always nice.  Any interest?

Dan's b-day is the 8th & I know he's running a race on the 9th and yes Larry & Bev go with the PU all the time, and yes the big draw back is it is VERY RV park.

I can vouch for the weather in April, since we've camped there in April.  The temps were good, not hot and not cold.  We did get rain overnight, but that would be par for the course with our group, right?  They have a rec room we could probably use too for a potluck, and they have big barrel barbecues that they'll let you use when you're using the room.  The pool isn't heated, so in April it will be cold, but my kids went in anyway.

Lori -- in the time we went in April it was for a chili cookoff they held.  Maybe they're doing something like this again.  They did it then because business is always slow this time of year and they were trying to drum up business.   I can check with them since they're familiar with my name (when I make reservations they always say, "Oh, you guys have been here before, right?").

Anyway, it's one of my kids' favorite places to go camping.

We like the Woods valley idea, looks like a nice campground.  Our calendar is open for this time of the year and we will have our new PU by then:)

Pachanga was too much a parking lot, I prefer to "camp"....

Nice Park, we are interested but april 8-10 is somewhat "iffy".  We are definatly in if maybe the weekend of the 29th.

I just got reservations for William Hiese, Julian for April 15-17..I would be interested in a weekend later like the end of April or beginning of May.  Dave and I, Bryan and Heather and Grandkids will be in camp site 6 and 7.  We can deal without hookups for water. I think Roberta was kind of trying for a Mini Rally anyway Julian should be nice in April.  Hope more of you decide to come.

kimrb266

We too are reserved at William Hiese, so I think May 6-8 or 13-15, anythink later will run close to Pismo.

I just made reservation online for William Hiese, Julian for the weekend of 4/15/05-4/17/05 for Dave and I and  for Bryan, Heather and Grandkids.  I think Popupmama, (Roberta was trying to get a mini ralley going on that weekend. she has site 6 and we took 7 and 8.    So lets do it later April or May...thanks,  Sue
