We are interested in camping up in the Finger Lakes Region this summer.  I'm looking for those of you who could give me info on 1/2 day or day hikes of moderate terrain, nice biking trails, where we could rent kayaks/canoes, rental of jet skis, sail boats/sail boards, and of course good family friendly campground.  Your help is GREATLY appreciated!!

Welcome to PUT.  We will be camping at Watkins Glen SP this summer.  The park is at the south end of Seneca Lake.  There are hiking trails in the park.  We have not camped there before, so I can't give you any information on renting equipment, but I am interested in finding out more information myself.:)

I grew up in Canandaigua, a town at the north end of one of the lakes.  I haven't been back in a couple of years, but there is a municipal pier at the north end of the lake where they rent canoes and have windsurfing lessons and rentals.  The hotel on the waterfront rented jet skiis.  Adjacent there is an extensive park with grassy areas for picnicking and a guarded swimming area, changing facilities, etc.  It's a pretty town to visit with an early 1800's courthouse and a large estate, Sonnenberg, with 50 acres of flower gardens open to the public.  The town of Naples with Widmer winery that offers tours is at the other end of the 15 mile long lake.  The Canandaigua/Rochester KOA is a few miles north of town, but we always stay with friends, so i've never been there.  DH and I will be going back in June.

Check out Letchworth State Park. When you are done, have lunch at the Glen Iris. You won't be disappointed.
