Is Coachman basically the same as Viking?

I'm thinking about buying a used 1996 Coachman 1070st, but can't find many product reviews on Coachman.  I had heard that Viking and Coachman pop ups are basically the same (perhaps same manufacturer?).  Can anyone verify this, and if so, does this apply to 1996 to present day?  Thanks for any help here...

Yes, Viking bought Coachman.  The numbers and names of the campers are different but the floorplans are the same.  I found through research that Viking edges coachman out on certain things though.  You have to figure out for yourself what better suits you and make your decision based on that.   Good luck.

It's CoachmEn, and yes like Rockwoods and Flagstaffs from Forest River the Coachmen and Viking trailers are clones. Coachmen also makes the Futura line which are different. They were the trailers designed to be licensed as Coleman trailers until the lawsuit was settled in Fleetwoods favor.

This may sound like an SAT question, but Coachman is to Viking what Mercury is to Ford.

we have a 1070 st and like it alot. Some things like all popups are not tip top, but it is solid and tows great with my S-10.  The flex axle and wide stance help.  Just finished a long trip and had no problems with the popup. We have towed it fully loaded with water and w/o and it is a stable tow.
good luck
