Anyone have experience camping at Big Bend National Park in West Texas? We're thinking of a trip out that way in the spring and would like to hear from anyone who has camped or visited there. Appreciate any info you feel will be helpful.

Beeper Here, I have been in Big Bend but not in my PU. I rafted the canyon for 3 days. Outstanding. I did look around alot and found it a BIG, Clean wonderful piece of Texas. You got to take a look at Sant Alena (sp) Canyon 1000 feet top to bottom

Long Drive from Here

Good luck

Big Bend is awesome, been there twice. Both times I stayed in the Chisos Basin campground, no hookups up there. Last year we went the 2nd week of March, it was very warm, hot springs and splashing in the river was good. You need at least 3 days to enjoy the park, not counting setup and take down time. If you camp in the Basin there is a 2 mile? trail to a picture rock just off the campground, It is a nice walk, the 3 YO DD did fine with it. The nicest area to camp in is in the no generator area, I think #53, You are on top of a hill, with an unobstructed view to another hill, It has spectacular sunsets. Please chock the wheels really good

Lots of wildlife, do not drive in or out of the north entrance to the park at night in the spring. You will swear it is raining jack rabbits.

THere is a length restriction into Chisos Basin, check that before you go. I do not remember it.
