Has anyone ever tried using this method?

It looks more attractive than our current method:

It looks like a cheap fix to try. I might put one together and evaluate the two.

My prediction: Six of one, half a dozen of another. One advantage mine has is that it can't overflow if the sink drain is running faster than the hose can handle.

Note his 99 update. He says it still overflowed and he relocated the drain to the bottom of the trailer.

I built a vacuum breaker vent similar to the larryandhollycrockett.com/vent1.jpg version.

Mine utilizes the T a little differently, and I use the original factory 90 degree elbow hose adapter, so it rests flush against the side of the PU.  The vent tube on mine is much longer, it reaches the roof and simply rests against the lift arm while in action.  It has never overflowed and my sink drains without hesitation with up to 65 feet of coiled waterhose connected, (the longest length I normally use).

Now all I have to do is post a picture somewhere.

What I found to be an effective vaccum break is using a PVC kitchen sink connector outfall  pipe with a dish washer drain tube attachment built in. The pipe has a 4" threaded connector that matches up perfectly to the outfall on my PU. All I do is locate the dish washer drain in the up position before I tighten the connection nut. Works great for my set-up.

Mine looked much like the one in the second link, pictures of it are here...

I think I copied yours 3 years ago, Cliff.  :)

As much as I love my pop up, this is one problem I'm looking forward to leaving behind when I someday get my hybrid.:)

CAPEd CODger

Larry, I think the pipe arrangement is "more attractive" than the funnel. With the drain being lower on your camper, I think you wouldn't have enough room for the needed drop for the funnel.
When I had the Cape Cod, my drain was in the floor, and I made something similar to what you are using now.
I think the link in my signature line still works.
Nope, I need to update.

I use the pvc pipe with the opening above my sink and it works great.

I'm not sure why I'm wanting to change it. It works fine. I think I just need to forget it, and worry about the projects that NEED to be done.

However, it is an interesting alternative. I do like it that I can put the current vent in my rear PVC pipe with the carpet. Doubt the vent would work.
