Well, the big southeast winter storm has arrived  here in North Carolina and the weather man's forcast is right for a change....Everything was already white with sleet when I went out for the papers at 6am....It is snowing now and this will turn into freezing rain later on..Looks like we're in for a good one....If the power fails, we will be in good shape...A gas log will keep the den and kitchen toasty with the rest of the house closed off. Have six oil lamps and three Coleman Gas lanterns for light, along with plenty of ventilation.... If the power goes off, the FLOPDOWN can be popped in it's shed so we can use the stove if needed.......Let it storm.............

I would say you are rather looking forward to it!

Better you than I....we had ours last weekend here in NorthEast
Burrrrrrrrrrr

Whats amazing is to see the power companies staging up before the storm! Progress Energy, Duke Power and Georgia Power must have learned a few lessons from years past. Hope it doesn't get to bad up there, we're looking at cold, damp rain here on the coast.

The power companies up here in Maine always get ready before a storm. They really got into the act after the ice storm we had a few years back.
I had to drag the unused woodstove back in the house for heat and "borrow" some wood from the generous neighbors. We had no power for about a week and everyone was helping everyone else. I brought the battery from the popup into the house and hooked up my inverter. Watched the news/weather on television and turned on a flourescent light.

Glad to see you have the same kind of rain down there Skip, "damp rain". I can't remember the last time we had dry rain.:D

Awwwww, man! leave out an "and" and everybody's a comedian! damp AND rain here!

Still applies too! It's cold. It's damp. And, it's raining! (hey, I'm trying)

Honestly though, it's nice when neighbors band together and help one another isn't it? We've seen that here after hurricanes, from both sides.

Heck it's like that here all winter in the mid-west.  You feel like you're in a heat wave when it reaches above 32 degrees.  :)

Hey OG, don't look now but it looks like we're gonna get it again! :frosty:

Strange year Bean...you guys keep getting it, further north of us keeps getting it...and the DC area here just gets little bits of nothing much...AND even worse...it's always on a weekend.  I haven't gotten a single day off work because of snow this year!  (I'm as bad as a kid hoping for a snow day off from school!)  LOL

Old Goat

Hey Bean, Thank goodness the last storm fizzled out before it got here....We're goin' down to Florida where the orange blossoms are and where I hear they camp all year..  [so do we]......As usual, the FLOPDOWN will be following us closely, just in case we decide to stop along the way to rest in places like Savannah and St. Augustine...While in  Stuart we will be camping on the river at the old family homestead....

Sorry that I will have to miss the King's Mountain and the Bals rescheduled trips.....

Please keep track of all the ice storms while we're gone,so you can tell us about em' when we get back...See ya,   WELCOME TO THE BOARD.......OG
