DW and I are planning a trip to Kentucky and Tennessee in April and will then head down to the gulf coast via the entire length of the Natchez Trace Parkway. We would appreciate any info on campgrounds and places of interest from anyone who has traveled and camped along the parkway...

Thanks,

YellowXterra

You  should stop by Jack Daniels, very neat and free tour! Plus I live about 10 minutes from there!

I used to live just a few miles from the parkway in TN. It's a nice liesurly drive, 445 miles long and just a 50mph speed limit. In Tn there are a few waterfalls, one in which is called Jackson Falls. A nice short hike to the bottem, very beutiful. Here is a link you may find helpful for points of interest.

Here is a link for camping on the trace itself.  These campgrounds have no hookups of any kind but they are free.

I live just a few miles from the Pkway as it passes south of Nashville, near Franklin, TN. I have never camped on the Parkway, as it has only dry hookups (that I'm aware of). However, I have biked down it, and I rode a very difficult 43 miles on it. It wasn't a difficult terrain, but I had not done much training, PLUS it was on a mountain bike, not a road bike. That's a lot of leg pumping! I was riding with our church group.

Hope you enjoy the Parkway. SD has given you a couple of good links.

Also here is a link to campgrounds off of the Trace but along the route.
