What do you like your campground to be near (check up to 3)?

It's really hard to narrow it to just three. We use just about any excuse to camp. Although, we are not sport or Nascar fans so those are definitely at the bottom of our list.
We love the mountains, the seashore, with friends, under the stars, and at times even near Amusement parks, it all just depends! Sorry I can't narrow it down any more. All DH needs to make him happy is a campfire, a beer, and friends......thats good camping to him. He's a man with impeccable taste!

Also hard to narrow it down to 3 for us. However, 'woods/forest' hits a lot of things (mountains/hills, etc.)

Thanks for the poll fix, Larry!

Maybe some of us like camping in areas unlike home? LOL. We live close to the coast but could care less about camping near the ocean...except out of convenience. Now hills and waterfalls, thats a different story.....

I personally enjoy  camping in the forest.  I love camping umongst the trees with the sun filtering through.  My second choice is the popup rallies.  We have made so many friends that the kids prefer it and when they are happy, momma is happy.  3rd would be lakes and streams.  As long as they come along with trees I like it.  This would be dh's number 1 choice as he loves to fish.

Checking three "not to be nears" would be easier than checking 3 "to be nears".  We're not normally interested in the major sports events (too expensive and crowded) or shopping (can do that at home).  Most everything else is great.  Have not been to a rally yet, although we're intending to go to the Eastern rally in 2006.  Question re the rallys:  are there a lot of kids that attend?  We have a 10 year old daughter, her sisters are 26 and 24, so she's essentially an only child.  She enjoys making friends on camping trips.  We bring her bike along, she loves riding on the campground roads and playing in the playgrounds.

Oh man ~ I couldn't find where to check if I wanted to camp near SkipP!!   :D

I took rallies to also mean 'group camping'.  Many of our trips are with good friends and that just makes it all the better!

I didn't see BEER STORE on this list, so I voted for woods/forest :D

Choosing only three is difficult. We camp in different places for different reasons. The main reason is to sleep under the stars and away from home.:)

Living in Beautiful BC we can't help but camp by the mountains, water, and trails.

Glad to see someone else that puts Nascar at the bottom of the list.  Personally, I find Nascar to be slightly more enjoyable than professional bowling.  :p

I love to be near streams.  The sound of the water churning is so soothing to me.  I also like the mountains and forest.  To me, these are what camping is about.

Boy, I'll second (or third) that. I'd much rather watch grass grow :p .

Different strokes for different folks.

I love camping where I can hear the surf or a running stream. I talked to someone the other day that said that they can't stand camping at Pt Mugu SP because the surf is so loud that it wakes them up at night.

I love it when the pounding surf wakes me up. It just gives me another opportunity to fall asleep listening to the surf :D .

Having said that, I understand the "Need for speed" mentality. I spent 10 years, from '69-'79 dune buggying and automobile racing (stock cars and sand drag racing). We used to camp at Glamis Sand Dunes (near Yuma, AZ) at least once a month and often 2 or 3 times a month. The thrill of roaring engines and excitement camping was very important to me then. BOY.....have things changed. Now I can't even stand listening to a generator running :p .

we do it all basically, but enjoy the lakes and ocean mostly,  (we enjoy visiting lighthouses) we go to nascar events but do not stay at the track, we do rallies too.

I couldn't decide on 3 either so I reinterpreted the poll.  It said what I wanted to camp near and I chose lakes/water and woods.  We like to take our camper when we go to amusement parks, historic areas, ect but that to me isn't real camping just a better place that hotels.  Anyway that is how I chose.
