We just got back from Costco where we bought a set of Camp Chef (Lewis & Clark Stamped) cast iron cookware set.  It has a 10" skillet, a griddle, and a 6 qt. Dutch Oven with the L & C stamped in the lid.  And all of this came in a really nice metal box with the L & C logo on the front.

$ 38.99 plus tax !!!!!  I thought that was awesome considering I was on Camp Chefs website looking at dutch ovens for almost twice that price.

Make sure the lid to the DO fits well. I saw some at Costco in NorCal and the lids were slightly warped. Some were ok though.

Moose you are the  :theking: of DO... waiting for pismo for some yummyness..and Lori has learned quite well... I can't wait till next weekend.mmm mmm mmm :D

We got that set last year when it was in a wood box. It all seasoned up real nice. Last year it also included a DO bag and a lid lifter, plus 1- 8" and baby itty bitty frying pan (spoon rest size) all for the same price. All I wanted (or needed) in it was the DO, bag and lifter so I split the cost and my son took the pans and griddle for his camping gear. Oh, an I got to keep the cool box it came in too !  It's a great deal

I did check that moose, it seems to fit well. DW wants to use it for cooking roasts at home too.

Brian, I hope you'll be putting that new set to good use next weekend! :)

I can definetly use the skillet and griddle, but I need some teaching for the dutch oven.

Well, Moose and Paula are definitely the ones you want to watch in action and ask questions of, but I'm happy to share all the things they've graciously taught me over the last couple of years.  Maybe Friday night, we can bake some cookies in the DO to go with our beer around the campfire.  (Yes I know you have an oven, Dee, but it's actually a kick to bake in a DO)

Actually, Brian, cooking in the DO is pretty easy once you know just a few things.  I'm nowhere near the gourmands that Moose and Paula are, but I'm pretty pleased with some of the things I can now make in a DO (Chicken Enchiladas, Tamale Pie, Beef Stroganoff, Chicken and Dumplings, Mashed Potato souffle thingie, fruit cobblers, even pizza!)  I used to shy away from it thinking it was too hard, or that there would be too much involved with cooking that way, but it's actually easier--and a lot more fun--than the days when I used to stand over a coleman gasoline-powered stove impatiently trying to reheat things out of a can.  I can't believe I used to camp (or eat!!) that way!!!

We would love to learn.  I have never met anyone that cooks with a dutch oven while camping.  We had a roast for dinner last night Kristi made in the new DO.

Yum!  I have not done roasts yet, but I know Moose has made beef roasts, prime rib (complete with all the trimmings like yorkshire pudding!) and corned beef and cabbage in his DO while camping.  They really are incredible (and just the nicest people you could ever hope to meet!)  They'll be at the Trick-or-Treat in Temecula rally, so you'll get to meet them there.
