Who knew that we have a celebrity in out midst....cool!

Dee,
We haven't stayed at a KOA but I have a childhood friend that operates the one in South Lake Tahoe and it is very nice (just stopped in to visit).

Dee---We've stayed in one or two.  They were definately NOT run down...actually too sterile for my liking.  However, as a stopping place for a night, they'll fit the bill.

Jeanne,

Where is the KOA in South Lake Tahoe?  We camp at Tahoe all the time and I never realized there was a KOA there.  I love KOA's.  They are very clean (pristine, really) and very professional.  At Tahoe, we've stayed at Camp Richardson (didn't really like it) and Meeks Bay Resort.  We like that better.  We are staying there for two weeks this summer.

Thanks,

Estelle

thanks guys..the pics in the websites look real nice and they all seem to have pools & playgrounds which is a plus for the kids. as I said when we had stayed in some it was back somewhere around 1977 (or earlier) so alot can change in 25+ years :D

Yes, there is a koa in the Tahoe area. The web page above will show you where all the koa's are located. We stayed at several on that 36 day road trip that we took in March and April. We found them all to be clean but nothing special. Even though the koa's were nice we much preferred the county, state and/or federal campgrounds.

We stayed at the San Diego/Chula Vista KOA. We really enjoyed it.

This summer, we will be staying at the KOA Bar Harbor, Maine. We are looking forward to it!

The KOA's I've seen that are along traveled routes are generally not in scenic spots, but, they seem like they'd serve the need for quick in- quick get away for en-route, overnight stop overs.
