I was surprised to find (or not find) that a MN PU camper club (or one that seeks to include MN) doesn't exist.  Actually, it seems as though there is not a big camping club presence in MN at all.  I would love to be incorrect about this but after trying to Google it and use all sorts of other tricks I have come up virtually empty.  I saw one PU club that seemed to inlcude WI, IA, SD and maybe a couple more states but did not mention MN.  Hmmm...

I understand that a club is not really needed to enjoy PU camping.  We seem to do just fine.  A bureaucrat at heart, I like clubs and all that sort of thing.  We geocache and belong to and keep tabs on the MN Geocaching Association.  You know nothing overwhelming, just a group of people who are similar in both interest and geography.  Shut up and camp?  Probably, but I do wish there was a MN PU Club...

There used to be a MN Club ... about 3 years ago the club split into 2 groups ~ north and south.  I don't know what happened to those that camped in the north.  The southern group held together for a bit, but I think I'm the only one left that still has a PU!

There is a group of 7 families meeting up at Itasca next weekend ~ I'll be there from the 21st to the 25th.  We will also camp together at the end of the season ~ first weekend in October at Forestville SP.   You're welcome to join either group.  (This group formed over at PUX )

Sometimes it's just easier to post where you're going to be and let others join in as they can.  We lacked an organizer of any sort in the previous MN group!  The kids and I are always looking for other families to camp with ~ they don't think it counts as camping unless we have company!
